Strengths: Easy setup (if it matters), plays anything i through at it, sound quality is excellent and fills the room, progressive scan image quality, sleek design
Weaknesses: Limited upgrade possibilities, switching discs takes a few seconds
Summary: DAVC-770 is a great home theatre solution if your budget is limited but you don't want to sacrifice audio or image quality. It plays CDs, Super audio CDs, MP3, DVDs. The 500W output is more than enough to fill a room with rich sound and the image quality is excellent (it'll output progressive scan images if your TV can handle it). Go to a store and check out the sleek design not only of the main unit, but the speakers and remote as well. And if you are technophobic, color coded speaker wires make setup a piece of cake.

The downside to this system is that it is not upgradable or customizeable, and switching or ejecting/inserting discs takes a few seconds. Otherwise, it's a great buy.

Strengths: Very small, sleek, and stylish; Extremely easy setup ; Can't beat the price for an all-in-one system; Progressive scan looks unbelievable.
Weaknesses: Since it's so compact, the 5 disc changer needs to cycle through to get to a disc making it a little slow, but not intolerable. No other weaknesses.
Summary: Awesome little system. Due to limited space I couldn't have separate components so I reluctantly chose to buy an all-in-one. I'm glad I made that decision. The unit was easy to make room for. I have a 13' by 16' living room and the sound is incredible on this baby. The speakers are very small, but pack a great surround sound. The system setup is fool-proof and the speaker wire lengths are more than enough. I like the several different audio fields like cinema A, B, C, Jazz club, live concert, hall, game, etc. Great sound especially on Super Audio CD's. You'll wish that everything on CD was in SACD format! I have Monster 3 Component Cables hooked to my Sony 57" RPTV and DVD's look astonishing. Overall, a great system for a great price!

1 Star ReviewRun like the wind if anybody tries to sell you one ...
Strengths: Looks nice; easy to set up.
Weaknesses: Piece of utter crap. CD player quit working after 3 days of ownership. 8 weeks later got it back from Japan. Played 6 DVDs in 2003 & CDs at Xmas; the DVD player broke on first DVD tried in 2004
Summary: Run like the wind if anybody tries to sell you one. Also, 600 watts of power? BS. Sounds more like 60W. Also, factory wants you to send EVERYTHING back when you return for repair...that means having to fiche speaker wires out of walls after you have paid to have them installed, even if problem is not speaker-related.
