Strengths: Light weight-only 4.9 pounds and great for traveling.
Weaknesses: Hard drive gets warm after long periods of use. The 12 inch screen size is too small.
Summary: 2005-07-05 12:50:32 I bought this for its light size,I had something bulky PC before which was not good for anything but replacing a desktop. Upgrade RAM for better performance add HD to 40-60mg if possible. Battery life is about 1-2 hours depending on applications used. If you are watching a DVD,then expect to take along an adapter. Overall the 12" ibook is good for being on a budget(since every mac is more expensive than most pc's) but if you want to tell your friends that you switched to mac than this is a good introduction. Just think of it as a baby powerbook. It is super easy to access the web. The model that I bought didn't need any external card or equiptment unless you are interested in creating a network. Making things extremly easy to travel and access the web and of course hqs an ethernet connection and can be set up for dial up but I personally just use the airport most of the time. Typing however sticks sometimes and once in awhile programs won't run correctly,so you have to force quit which means you better get to know your short cuts.

I found it a little tough from being a pc user, trying to search for a "notepad" and other various pc elements that are now given new names. For instance what are these "stickies".

With the new OS it is fun to use widgets but becareful if you are downloading them, since you might get ones that cant delete and permanently consume your visual screen space.

I don't appreciate the fact that lots of software is extra, for instance if you are used to MS word or sending and receiving attachments, then you are forced to either shop online or at the store for a product that will cost you at least $100+ so keep some money aside.
