Strengths: Amazing value. Nothing else comes close. I think I paid about $170 shipped.
You MUST, however, have a receiver that can adjust the DSP bass crossover in some way. See below...
Weaknesses: Will sound very poor with default Dolby Digital bass crossover settings.
Summary: As long as you adjust your Bass Management this system will sound great! How to do this, depends on what type of receiver you are using. I have an Onkyo TX-SR600, and I found that setting the "crossover" to 120 Hz produced the best results. This is a higher crossover than the default Dolby Digital.
I have also successfully set these speakers up with the smaller Onkyo TX-SR500. It does not have a setting for crossover, but by selecting small speakers, similar results are obtained.
I would also say that, having seen both, the black ones look nicer than the silver ones.
