Good construction overall, the motor is a little noisy and the focus is a little slow with the zoom extended. The IS/USM version of this lens does not have these issues - otherwise the construction is probably the same. 100% of People (3/3) found this review helpful. Strengths: Weight - Not too heavy for such a great lens Weaknesses: Tad slow,,,, NOT MUCH Summary: Great lens...Quite Motors. Great lens and not to heavy. Nicely contructed and easy to use. I bought it for my canon XTI and it works great. Fast focus and no shutter sound. Very quite. Con's - same normal black coloring and a touch slow on focus release.
