Strengths: Low price
Weaknesses: No recorder
Summary: I purchased the Magnavox DV200MW8 for approx $35 (after rebate). It was advertised as a VCR/DVD combo by the merchant, however, this unit only plays video tapes and does not record on them, and therefore it should be advertised as a VCP (video cassette player) and not as a VCR (video cassette recorder). I was planning on recording so this is a problem that cannot be overcome. Also, since this model does not record, there is no built-in TV tuner. As far a VHS tape or DVD player is concerned, the unit works fine and no problems have been encountered except that the remote is small and hard to read. I have played both original DVD's and copied DVD's without any issues. The picture quality, sound quality, freeze frame, and slow motion are acceptable. If you do not need to record, then this unit will serve you well, but if you want to record anything, do not buy this model.
