Strengths: 2.2GHz Turion CPU, 2GB RAM standard, 250GB HDD, Many other nice standard features. Light weight, compact, easy to use.
Weaknesses: Custom configuration by the vendor removed too many needed items, like access to the User Guide, and warranty registration. HP's list of trial programs is a bit excessive.
Summary: I bought this to take notes in class, kind of like a PDA on steroids. So far, it's worked quite well. The multiple Direct Access features are a nice touch.

The standard 6-cell battery is OK, but I think I'll order the optional 8-cell battery for the added battery life.

This is my first tablet PC, and I like it.

Strengths: Tablet, finger print scanner, screen
Weaknesses: some tablet features, speed
Summary: This tx1410us runs cool and quiet compared to all other laptops I've owned and even after being on all day... I wouldn't use it in bed or anything since the bottom vents need to be clear but who uses a laptop in bed that much anyways? This has been an excellent laptop that I got for significantly less than retail. It runs smooth once completely booted and loaded. HP did include a lot of bloatware but some of it is actually useful. It will feel slow at first because of Vista’s load up style, it keeps a computer busy for a couple minutes as everything loads up. I have installed a few games, GTA San Andres being the 3D intensive game I still enjoy. It runs very smooth on the Geforce IGP at 800x600 medium settings, I am sure it can handle more but I have not tried it. The laptop’s integrated buttons can be slow to respond, especially the screen rotate button, but overall they provide convenience I did not have with my previous laptops. The tablet function is average, it does a ok job with hand writing recognition and basic navigation. I am starting to get used to it and can see flaws with HP’s design, but hey the price was way lower than most tablets. I think the construction is top notch. The laptop feel very solid, I have a little play with the battery but nothing crazy and the screen feels strong enough to stop a bullet. I am pretty rough with my computer and it gets hauled around almost everywhere I go. I think this laptop will last a couple of years before developing cracks in the plastics. Overall it is a safe purchase with a lot of cool feature. It looks slick and handles everything I will probably use.
