Strengths: Features, EZ Setup, Sound Quality
Weaknesses: Price, no DVI/HDMI
Summary: After looking at the Harmon receivers for a while finally took the plunge when I found a good price on the AVR-635. Although price can be a wekness, deals can be found on eBay on other online stores. At this point probably a little more than I need, however one think I like about this model is the ability to expand (inputs, RS-232, A-Bus, 7 channels, 8-ch direct), the only thing it doesn't have is DVI/HDMI inputs/outputs, however I can't complain seeing as those can't be found in any reciever near this price (also for my needs with an EDTV I don't believe there would be a major difference between the DVI and component).
As far as sound quality I have nothing but praise for the reciever, so far I have be happy with everything I have listened too and very impressed with the Logic 7 decoding which is much better than the other surround modes I had heard before. Also no more muddiness when I turn it up, like what happened with my old Pioneer 810. It powers JBL e90 fronts, a Infinity TSS4000 and JBL surrounds without any problem and the EZset did a good job of adjusting to fill the living room with sound
Also I like the design of the front (have read those that like and dislike), but I like the silver/black and the two line display is nice to have. The remote is OK, and although it has enough buttons and is well laid out I think it is a little big for everyday use so probably going to go with a universal. One other plus is the ability of the remote to learn macros.
