2 Star ReviewSirius receiver could be better, but serves its purpose.
Strengths: Good reception. Stays hidden from sight, not attracting curious eyes.
Weaknesses: Only allows 8 characters displayed at a time. Will list only the song title, singer, station ID, etc. individually. Doesn't conveniently utilize the head unit's buttons/knob.
Summary: I'm marginally happy with this receiver, but I can't complain too much because I read customer reviews before I bought it and knew what I was getting. This is a reliable Sirius Satellite receiver and gets a good strong signal it is installed properly. I had bad luck trying to mount the antenna in alternative locations to try to keep it out of sight. The receiver stays behind the dash, which keeps it hidden from possible thieves (I've been robbed 3 times, so this is important to me). It is conveniently controlled through the head unit, so no additional buttons or knobs or displays have to be mounted to use this receiver. With that said, I have a few complaints about this unit which I can't believe that Sirius or Pioneer (whoever engineered this product) didn't consider. First of all, the song title/artist/station ID/etc. display only shows 8 characters and will scroll only once (it will not scroll again even if the scroll button is pressed). Only a quarter of the head unit's display is used because of this 8-character limitation. It will also only display ONE of the options. If you have selected to display the song title, you'll have to enter the menu of the head unit to change the selection to artist name to find out who recorded the song. There are a number of options to display, but each of them is displayed separately from the others, which is an incredible inconvenience. On that note, I don't feel that the controls of the Pioneer head unit were adequately utilized to operate this receiver. For example, the knob on the head unit is virtually unused (only the up/down and left/right functions are used). The display button does nothing (it would be nice if you could use it to select between artist name/song name/etc. without changing options in the menu). I have to honestly say that, if I had it to do again, I would buy a different Sirius receiver. Having the ability to hide the receiver behind the dash is not a benefit enough to overcome the limitations of this unit, in my opinion. Perhaps a newer, revamped model will soon become available with these obvious improvements, but for now, I'll have to deal with the problems.
