Strengths: Easy of use, compatibility, quite, exterior design. Weaknesses: It would be better if it had a smaller body. Summary: Great DVD burner. Very easy to use and works very friendly with my computer (they are connected with fire-wire). I tried different media, such as DVD-R, DVD+R and CDs and it did wonderful job. The boundled software, Neuro Burning Express, is also very easy to use. Somebody claim it can burn an whole move within 20mins. But I used almost 1 hour with my DVD-R. I am not sure it's my DVD-R's problem (does not support 16X speed) or because of my choosing of very low compress ratio. Of course, it burns really fast when I using high compress ratio. Strengths: VERY EASY TO INSTALL (USING USB) AND VERY EASY TO USE. Weaknesses: A LITTLE BIT NOISY Summary: THIS DRIVE IS VERY EASY TO BOTH INSTALL AND USE. I HAVE A CD WRITER AND SEVERAL SOFTWARE PROGRAMS. THIS DRIVE APPEARS TO WORK WELL WITH ALL MY APPLICATIONS. IT IS A LITTLE BIT NOISY BUT DOESN'T APPEAR TO INTERFERE WITH IT'S PERFORMANCE. Strengths: Solid construction, compatible with lots of media, good connection options Weaknesses: None so far Summary: The GSA-5160D seems to be a quality product so far. It burned a DVD-R disc to capacity really quickly, and is compatible with a lot of different blank media. The dual-layer support is the real attraction here, and it was a good buy for an external firewire burner. The build-quality is solid, unlike a few other devices I've seen and held before.
