2 Star ReviewNot the Kodak you would expect
Strengths: Has all the great features/specs of good cameras, is 6MP, is small and uses normal AA batteries, and has the Kodak name brand (if you do resell) and most importantly of all its cheap in price !
Weaknesses: Poor Quality as in cheap model suit its cheap price (see details below......) and a very flimsy battery case latch.
Summary: 2008-08-28 04:00:44 I bought this camera because it had all the great features and specs along with a 6MP Kodak brandname.

I tried a few pictures and videos with it. The pictures were ok. Of course, the low-light pics were a bit grainy. The digital image stabilization was fine (not as good as costlier cameras but then what do you expect at this low price). The videos were ok at 320x240 size but at vga size it takes only 15 frames/sec and so the video is not great for moving things. All in all quite an ok camera so far at the low end price.

One thing I could notice right away was that the body looks metallic but is actually plastic and especially the battery case door is very tight and the tiny latch is flimsy plastic and is just waiting to break off when someone presses hard to open the battery case - and needless to say if this small latch breaks the camera is practically useless.

Then about 2 months later after almost no usage at all (well I have other cameras and wanted to gift this one), one day we found it just would not turn on !!

We thought it was the battery and changed it and that worked one time. Then a week or so later it was the same problem!! This time changing batteries or SD card etc. did not help. The camera was maintained perfectly well and without much use. I am planning to call Kodak customer service on this and see what they have to say. I am seeing in google a lot of folks reporting issues with this camera and would not be surprised if it is just a cheapo model.

Well.... you get what you pay for.

But I have bought costly Kodak cameras before that have worked great and I am hoping their customer service is still great as it is hardly 4 months since I bought this.

If I dig anything more interesting I will post here.

But the bottomline seems to be that the Kodak C series is the cheapo models while the M series which has builtin batteries but similar specs are better models as I also have the M753 and that works great.

Apart from the above problem, there are a couple of things in this camera that I do like - first is can take SDHC cards and so you can just put a 4GB card and use it for an entire vacation if you take pics like normal folks (ie. use it for pics not much for video etc.) - the second is it takes normal AA batteries which is fantastic as the single issue with digital cams is running out of batteries and storage just when you need them - and AA cells are easy to carry around unlike the trying to recharge builtin cells.

Also the daytime outdoor pics I took with this camera were as good as any other normal price consumer camera makes/models you can think of.

Also the photo frame is quite independent of the camera and is just bundled by some retailer as one and the frame is also a ok but again a bit cheap looking.

Hope this helps.

Strengths: size, weight and settings
Weaknesses: zoom, mega pixels
Summary: I recommend this camera for beginners, active people and young users! I have been a Kodak fan for many years and their digital cameras seem to hold up better than Canon products (I went through 3 Canon cameras in one year and my previous Kodak has held up for over 3 years!).

I am an active photo taker but I am an active person as well. I've previously owned the Kodak C643 and down graded to the C613 and so far, there isn't much of a difference and I'm very pleased with it.
