Strengths: Perfect toast, faster than other toaster ovens, square shape good for pizza, looks good on counter. Recommended by Consumer Reports.
Weaknesses: Kind of tall, leaves some frozen foods lukewarm in center.
Summary: I love this toaster oven! I bought this after doing a lot of research and looking at more models than I can recall. I finally bought the Panasonic after reading the recommendation by Consumer Reports. They really liked this oven and I can see why now.

I really wanted an oven with a digital keypad but there aren't many out in the market -- maybe 3 or 4. Except for the Panasonic, all of the other digital ovens were so light that you could not push the keys without holding the top of the oven. The Panasonic does not have this problem as it is heavy enough to stay put and the buttons are easy to push.

The oven's performance with toasting things is superb, better than any other toaster oven I tried. If toast is what you mainly use a toaster oven for, then the Panasonic is the one to get. I have also had great results with things like frozen has browns, pizza rolls, frozen mini-pizzas, chicken nuggets, sandwiches, Hot Pockets, etc. I have not yet tried using the oven for baking. Also, the oven has no broil function, so if you want that in a toaster oven then I suggest you look elsewhere.

This toaster oven fits my needs perfectly. It looks great on my counter, though it is taller than most toaster ovens. The advantages of the square shape make up for the extra height.

Finally, the Panasonic cost a little more than I wanted to spend. However, I found a good price online and Panasonic has a $20 rebate right now. My total cost was $70 after rebate.

Strengths: Very cool design, cooks toast, reheats pizza to perfection.
Weaknesses: power cord placement
Summary: 2005-04-17 18:34:35 First off, this is NOT a convection oven...it is an infrared toaster oven. That being said, this unit is great. It looks really nice on the counter and is obviously well made. Of course, I purchased this to toast/cook with and it does this quite well. I was looking to replace an aging Black & Decker and their products have been getting bad reviews lately. I came across this unit and ordered it. It has several preset buttons for common item such as toast, frozen toast, pizza and hash browns. So far the presets have cooked the appropriate foods correctly and uniformly. It also has a digital timer, digital brown control and digital temperature control. The crumb tray removes easily for cleaning. I just used it to reheat some Thin & Crispy Pizza Hut pizza and was amazed at how crispy the crust came out. Frankly, I preferred it reheated in this Panasonic to the way it was upon delivery. My only mild complaint is the rather odd electrical cord placement...its on the right side about 2" from the front. Why they didn't put it on the back where it belongs, I don't know.

Strengths: No preheating required. Great for making toast and bagels.
Weaknesses: I had to get used to the settings. Burned a few things. The light is VERY bright.
Summary: This toaster oven is by far, the best I've owned. I love the fact I don't have to wait for it to preheat. Food is ready in half the time that my old Black and Decker would take. It did take getting used to. This unit is more powerful than other toaster ovens I've owned. The best part is that it makes great toast!

Strengths: Excellent toasting, baking, rack pulls forward when door opens, compact size, better-than-most instruction manual.
Weaknesses: Limits on setting temperature and time for baking, timer only goes up to 25 minutes, timer bell is very short.
Summary: Other toaster-ovens use electric elements spaced widely apart that are totally inadequate for toasting. I feared for the worst when I saw the Panasonic's widely spaced elements, but they use infrared light/heat to toast. . .and they work GREAT! We've also baked potatoes with great success, and it reheats pancakes and waffles nicely. We haven't had it long enough to try much else. Instruction manual not only states dos and don'ts, but also briefly explains WHY. One can easily adjust to the limits setting timer and temperature, but you'd better be around and alert for the timer bell -- it's really short. Those are minor things, though. For a small household, I highly recommend the Panasonic.

Strengths: Works Fast. Great Features.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: This is an awesome toaster oven that does everything one would expect and with great speed. It has a space saving design and works like a champ. There are lots of custom features on this unit. It is one of the best toaster ovens out there. Toasts come out perfect every single time.

Strengths: Cooks about 25% faster than a conventional oven. Great for everything that gets rubbery in a microwave such as frozen pizza, any kind of bread, and chicken nuggets.
Weaknesses: A little smaller than I would have liked but adequate for up to 2 people dishes.
Summary: Clark Howard turned me on to this "new tech" toaster oven. I am really glad I got it. It cooks really fast (about 25% faster than a conventional oven) and does a super job on toast and breads.

Strengths: Making toast. Ease of operation.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: Absolutely, no question the best at making toast than any other toaster I have owned. It is quick and browns the toast evenly on both sides. It's a great size for making a lot of things that could not be done in other toaster ovens I have owned. Consumer reports recommended this and they were right on the mark.

Strengths: It does what it is supposed to do (Toasting) very well; good design; fast operation
Weaknesses: Construction is not rugged; size
Summary: 2008-01-03 12:46:14 I've been using this toaster oven for about a month now, and found that, in overall, it was a quality product.

PROS

1. Its well-designed exterior looks pretty good in our kitchen, and will complement most kitchens.

2. The controls are all digital. You do not have to worry about broken/loose controls. I used to have a toaster oven by DeLonghi. After a few months of use, all of its controls became loose, and made it hard to operate them properly.

3. It makes consistently good toasts. Toasts made by this toaster is crispy, and the textures of breads are preserved very well. Also, it is very fast. I would say it takes approximately 2/3 of time that I used to spend with my DeLonghi. This is an important feature because we eat toasts in the morning (like everyone else), and time is a very valuable commodity in the morning.

CONS

1. While the digital controls look cool and easy to use, it is not always easy to operate them. In fact, a couple of buttons are not very responsive to touch/push. I often have to try a couple of times to make it work.

2. This toaster is built well, and has the quality construction that you can expect from the top Japanese electronics makers like Panasonic or Sony. However, it does not have the rugged feeling of KitchenAid or Cuisinart.

3. They advertise that this toaster can toast 4 pieces of toaster at once. It is theoretically feasible, but I found that the quality of toasts are not as good when more pieces of bread are squeezed in.

Overall, this is a good toaster, and I would recommend this without much reservation.

Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: First I must say that this toaster oven makes better toast than any other toaster oven I have used. That said, there are a few things that disappointed me.

1. There is an on/off button. It would be better if using the other buttons turned it on automatically and it should turn off automatically when the cycle ends.

2. That light is bright! Very strange to have space-alien lighting emanating from the toaster over. A tinted door would be nice.

3. Not good for baking. This oven does a great job of heating the surface, but not so great heating the center of things. Even cookies did not fare well.

4. The oven is hotter in back and cooler in front. It even mentions this in the instructions. Large items such as pizza need to be rotated partway through heating.

5. The temperature increments are weird and won't match most recipes.

It does, however, make great toast. Even Pepperidge Farm's Texas Toast worked well. Any other toaster oven I have used has always toasted the top and bottom unevenly, leaving a crunchy top and soggy bottom. Grilled cheese sandwiches work great too. I love the Frozen Toast button - the button I use most. Hopefully Panasonic will correct the annoyances with the next model, but I'm still keeping this one.

Strengths: Lightweight,easy to use instructions,
Weaknesses: none so far
Summary: Although I have only used my new toaster oven a few times I am very pleased with it. It is easy to use: bakes and toasts well.I like the sound that indicates cooking is complete. I especially like the ease of cleaning the crumb tray.My old toaster had one that was in back this one is in front.I like the price point. I would definitely recommnd this model to anyone looking for a toaster oven.

Weaknesses: cooking area a little small, cord placement weird
Summary: from the digital timer to the door mechanism, this is a high quality product. don't let its light weight fool you. i don't have a regular oven and use this for everything: roasts (small), bagels, lasagna, cheese-crisps, baked potatoes, and even toast. the toasting feature has fine tuned adjustments that make it consistently the way i like. you will soon find the back of the oven cooks a little faster than the front, but overall a very nice choice.

Summary: Sure beats our old B&D. I would recommend it for anyone that needs to upgrade to a better toaster oven. We use it for toast, bagels, pastries, and reheating. It adds the crispness that a microwave can't. It will reheat apple pie fast and it taste like it just came out of the oven.
