3 Star ReviewOver all, this product works as advertised. It is ...
Strengths: It does allow you to operate the player through a wired remote as advertised. The LCD text display is large and allows you to easily see what mode your player is in. The layout of the controls is good
Weaknesses: The case is a very cheap feeling plastic. The stereo ear phone jack only works when plugged-in half way. The cable for the wired remote introduces noise if it is wiggled or bent(which is hard to avoid
Summary: Over all, this product works as advertised. It is NOT of the quality I have come to expect from CREATIVE. The wired remote adds a FM radio with up to 32 preset stations. The radio reception was good and the station preset setup was simple. The voice recording quality was better than expected. The built-in Mic has good pickup and sound tone quality. The wired remote has a clip on the back so the Mic can be clipped to your shirt for hands-free recording. The EAX button did not work for my NOMAD player. I was also not able to select the REPEAT or RANDOM play options through the remote. (They do show on the remote's LCD display once you have selected them on the player, though.) The wired remote also has a LOCK tab that allows you to freeze the remote's settings so you can hold it in your hands or place it in your pocket without fear of accidentally pressing the buttons and changing your settings. Overall, it provides some much needed functionality to the Nomad player (i.e. an FM radio and Voice recording), but it is a pricey add-on seeing as how we have already shelled-out several hundred dollars for these players.

Strengths: led text display, good overall design, nice silver finish, functional controls.
Weaknesses: plastic casing material (it feels cheap - would have complemented the zen if it were the same alum. material), relatively expensive compared to newer mp3 players that have this included.
Summary: among the mp3 players i checked before settling on this one, the zen combo is among the lower priced and yet has good customer feedback in terms of features and performance. fm and voice recordings are what made me decide on getting this. and this is the only model that has led text display on its remote control that is really cool. definitely A+.
