Strengths: 2 USB ports for Peripherals.
Supposedly very Wintel compatible.
Weaknesses: 1) Locks up
2) G4 Buttons don't work
3) Arrow Keys produce "4", "6", "8", "2"; sometimes control keys (shift, etc.) don't send release code.
4) No F7 thus no "return to XWindows under console"
Summary: Weeknesses continued...
1) ... because it can't detect any device plugged into the keyboard jack. MTTF 2 weeks; 2 units tested.
2) ... meaning no "open CD tray" to insert a CD nor volume controls.
4) ... which screws up linux.
5) Firmware Update only works under Win9x; Win2k patch broken.
6) IF you can get the Firmware updates, fixes items 3 and 4, but NOT 1, 2 or 5.
7) To fix 2, 3 and 4 you must plug the keyboard into one of the peripheral ports and thus loose the ability to hot-key switch or change the F/W params of the KVM. Does not fix 1.
8) Belkin refuse to support Macintosh products. Chief recommendation is to replace all components with Wintel.
9) Tech support is long distance (not 800!) wait an hour or internet and always "consumer's fault" for not being Wintel.
In summary: Macintosh and Linux users beware: this KVM is not all it appears to be.
