Strengths: Cool monsters, fun Super Smash Brothers simple fighting
Weaknesses: Almost too simple
Summary: This is a great game if you like old monster movies, or if you like part fighting games like Super Smash Brothers (though this game is still leaques behind that king). The game actaully reminds me a lot of the old Rampage series, but with emphasis on destroying your opponent, rather than the enviremont. But you do destroy your environment, it's just too fun not to. Pick up a car and hurl it at your foe, use an I beam as a bat.

Strengths: Lots of characters, Different Places, and hard on career mode.
Weaknesses: Not that hard on multie player and career mode is short.
Summary: War Of the Monsters has really fun places and unlockables. Like in one place you can start a tsunami! There are different grades of characters, like for example pretend there is a gorilla there are five stages of this character each one is more advanced. In this game you are a monster and you fight all different types off monsters and try to conquer them all! I would recommend this game to people who like fighting, action, and destruction games.

Strengths: Multiplayer battles are out of control! Cool monsters. Fun, “old monster movie” motif. Good replay value. Every monster has a cinematic telling it’s story.
Weaknesses: No 4-person multiplayer. Short single-player game. Needs some bigger levels and more monsters.
Summary: War of the Monsters by Incog is like the old arcade game Rampage set in a 3-D world. Rampage was one of my favorite games back then and this game just blows it out of the water. Not only can you now traverse a metropolis in 3-D, but now you can literally smash entire buildings, step on crowds of unsuspecting citizens, and pick up objects to beat other monsters with (e.g. tankers, boulders, and girders). It’s the type of game that you can just pick up and play. I really don’t know what the story is behind the game, but all I know is that it has to do with aliens turning innocent creatures into giant monsters, which is good enough for me.
Several of the monsters you can choose from include a gorilla, lizard, magma monster, insect, eyeball made of electricity (mmm-hm…), and a Voltron/anime robot. Some of the monsters control better (e.g. Voltron-dude), but each one has pretty much the same moves (long-range,short-range attacks). The only things that really separate them are their special short-range/long-range moves, of which there are 2 of them.
The game is a little short in the single-player mode, which you’ll beat in a day, but it’s fun to go back and pick a different monster to play as in a new game. Each time you beat the game with a different monster, you get a different cinematic giving you the backstory of each monster. Plus, you can unlock new multiplayer levels and new monsters by earning “credits” for completing each level.
This was one of my first PS2 games that I bought, so of course I recommend buying it, too. Incog has a great reputation with destructive/fun games like Twisted Metal: Black or Downhill Domination. The only flaws I find with the game is maybe it’s scale. Wouldn’t it be great if the game were much bigger? The levels themselves feel kinda small. If they could make some towering cities for a sequel, I would be all for it…

Strengths: Fun gameplay, nice graphics, enjoyable multiplayer, destructable environments
Weaknesses: Not enough monsters, much more fun with multiplayer than single player
Summary: War of the Monsters is a fighting game, using numerous 50's style monster movie monsters. The graphics are nice for both the monsters and the environments, and the environments are very nicely destructable. The single player campaign is mostly used to unlocked other monsters to play, though there should be more monsters to pick from. The real fun is in multiplayer battles, which unfortunately are only two player.
For a fun melee-type game on the PS2, this one is worth looking at.

Strengths: Fun gameplay, destructible environments, quirky characters
Weaknesses: Not too much replay value
Summary: War Of The Monsters is a 3D fighter that plays a lot like Powerstone, but feels like an updated version of the classic Rampage series. The characters are all based on B-movie style monsters that are as large as buildings. There is a decent amount of characters, but a lot of them play the same, so it really comes down to your personal preference. The best part of this game is the multiplayer. It is a lot of fun to have these giant monsters just brawling against each other and destroying large cities in the process. The cities are fully destructible and you can use the environment to your advantage. For example, you can pick up vehicles and throw them at your opponent or tear giant radio towers off of skyscrapers and use them to pummel your enemy. The graphics and sound for this game are very good and fit the B-movie style of the game perfectly. The gameplay is somewhat basic and easy to pick up, but this eventually hurts the replay value as it gets pretty repetitive.
Overall, this is a great game to play with friends and I give it a 4 out of 5.

Strengths: destructible environments, cool creatures
Weaknesses: only 2 player
Summary: This is a very fun game involving the giant king kong creatures. The cities are all almost completely destructible and the creatures themselves have some very cool moves. I only ever really use the multiplayer as that is the most fun, the single player storyline is a little lacking. But the creatures are great and the gameplay is fun and it is definitely worth a buy.

Strengths: Fight as giant monsters and destroy!!!
Weaknesses: Could have used more depth to it's combat
Summary: War of the Monsters is probably the most underrated game on Playstation 2. I mean you can fight as giant monsters, many parodies of popular movie monsters, in cities where you destroy everything in your path! How could a game with a premise executed so well and published by Sony go overlooked by so many people? It's a crime I say!
War of the Monsters could have used more depth to it's combat and in the vein of Super Super Smash Bros. and Godzilla: Destroy all Monsters, 4 player multiplayer support.

Strengths: family friendly,graphics
Weaknesses: none
Summary: 2005-07-06 17:23:36 I found this game online at a bargain price. All the reviews I had seen praised it. Based on the reviews I purchased this game and I can tell you that so far I am pretty happy with it. My school age kids also love the game.
The graphics are awesome and the game itself reminds you to the era of the old monster movies such as godzilla, mothra etc.
Great game , definetely recommended

Strengths: Great graphics and sound and a high fun factor.
Weaknesses: More moves would have been welcome.
Summary: How did this one slip under the radar? I remember reading about it and I believe it got pretty decent reviews, but I don't think that it saw too much commercial success. Too bad, because a PSP or PS3 update would be ultra sweet! Just the thought of taking this title on the go with wireless connectivity leaves me excited for the possibilities. Midway--take notice. This is the title that an updated Rampage should've been. Who wouldn't want to take control of a 100 ft tall beast and wreck havok on a city while duking it out with other beasties? The icing on the cake is this title's adherence to a 50's era vibe. It really does a good job of emulating the cinematic flair that the B-movies of that era evoked. My only gripe--a heavier move-set would be welcome. And if a sequel is likely, internet play would be solid. With the upcoming King Kong movie on the horizon, huge monsters could be making a comeback, and that's alright with me.

Strengths: Graphics, easy controls, fun to play
Weaknesses: Sound, camera issues
Summary: I have been playing my friends copy of this game. We really enjoy this for hours. The graphics are outstanding. Also, I feel the controls are simple enough, that anyone can pick this up and play. I enjoy the variety of things you can smash and use as weapons. This game is tough to find under $20, a true bargain at that price. This is a hidden gem in the PS2 library.

Strengths: Easy to use controls. Well balanced selection of characters and awesome classic character designs.
Weaknesses: One or two players only. Some of the enviroment animation and effects are rough
Summary: This is one of my favorite fighting games. The classic cinema inspired setting is great. Ultra V is my favorite as he is reminiscent of some many classic giant robot shows and anime. There are a few minor camera problems and the destruction of buildings or objects could be smoother but over all a very fun game. Multiplayer combat is this games strength, it would have been great to have more than 2 players at a time or even on line combat. This is an easy to play game for anyone, great graphics and effects but this could benefit with some advance controls or settings.
