Strengths: quality feel, sound and picture quality, small size, bright and sharp LCD, easy thumb control, focusing and 530 lines resolution.
Weaknesses: fingers sometimes cover lens, hard to push 'inside button', flimsy rubber cover on connection, night mode unusable, awkward but 'learnable' zoom control.
Summary: My wife has a small hand. She compared it to SonyPC101. surprisingly she liked the quality, smallness, color accuracy using the settings of white balance and fast focusing of the JVC. The Sony has that 'Sony' mavica color she said. Besides, the JVC with its all black cool factor. We handled the JVC carefully and even bought a second 1400mAh battery just in case. I anticipated JVC to break down actually, but no, it did'nt. The 2nd battery even last me a week of intense filming WITH LCD!!. And that's in winter. However some quibbles about the so called buttons to access the settings. You really have to push hard enuff to make it work. Maybe next time, JVC will make a 'proper' button. Overall, me and my wife are satisfied with it. Handle it carefully, so it does not get broken easily like in the first comment. I certainly recommend it to friends because of its size, quality and cool factor. Its reliable actually. As for me, my next digicamcorder will be the Panasonic DVX(?)1000 or the Canon GL2, but this baby will be my wife's jewel.
