Strengths: Easy to use. Compact. Loud Volume. FM Tuner, Line In and Voice Recording features. USB 2.0. Best bang for your buck.
Weaknesses: Slight buzzing noise when backlit. No clock. Tangled Headphones.
Summary: 2005-03-03 07:18:17 Positives:
1. Easy to use: The N200 appears as a removable drive in WindowsXP, so adding and removing files is easy. Plus, it's USB 2.0, so now I can move hundreds of MBs in seconds. This was the main reason for getting a new player. My old RCA player was painfully slow with USB 1.1, plus it made me use MusicMatch for the transfers.
2. FM radio: is pretty good picking up many stations in both mono and stereo. I was able to record a few songs directly.
3. Size: It's really small and lightweight. So it's good for strapping on your arm when working out.
4. Loud Volume: The volume has 40 settings (1-40). I listen at around 28 at the gym and block out most noise.
6. 512MB memory: Plenty of space for around 6-7 albums.
7. Value: I found the player for $100 on PriceGrabber, which is way below the normal price for this player. And even at the normal price it beats out other competitors given the features and size.
Negatives:
1. Buzz with backlight on: The player emits a small buzzing sound. Luckily you can turn it off.
2. Can't ask for more out of this great deal, but if I could, I'd want a clock on it.
3. Lot of people knock on the earbud headphones, but I think they have a great sound. They do tend to tangle though.
I think I'll go back to my modified Koss earbuds, mostly to block out the noise at the gym entirely and get the heavy bass.
This player is fantastic and would highly recommend it.
Frankly it's amazing how much it can do for it's size.
I'm a little nervous about losing or dropping it, but the case looks like it can take a litte bit of abuse.
I haven't done much with the Line-In feature, but my mom has a load of tapes that she wants me to transfer to CDs for her. That's another reason I picked this player.
