Weaknesses: Noisy. Ours has only one speed. (At the time, the company line was that any other speed would not remove the grease.) Cleaning is extremely difficult, time-consuming and messy.
Summary: The claims for grease collection are bogus. While some grease is collected in the intended receptical, a great deal of grease collects on the squirrel cage fan blades. Cleaning the squirrel cage is at best awkward and difficult -- either it is done in place (without removing the fan blades), which is both messy and unsatisfactory, or you stand on your head to loosen the allen head screw that holds the squirrel cage on the shaft. I would never buy another VentaHood -- I'd get a hood with a metal filter that was easily removed and put in the dishwasher.
