Strengths: SATA, cheap price, does what it's meant to do
Weaknesses: None
Summary: First of all, know that this is only a BD reader. There's nothing wrong w/that. It's great that you can get a BD player so cheap (I got mine when it was $130), because Lite-on's BD writer is pricey. Keep in mind also, if you're not familiar w/Lite-on as a company, that this particular company makes drives for some of the big boys (including Sony). The big boys just slap their label on it.

SATA makes all the difference when it comes to cable management. It keeps things looking good inside the chassis.

I haven't had any issues while playing BD or DVD movies. I've watched such titles as Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Terminator 2, & The Patriot. All movies were watched on a 1080p LCD. No issues.

The only complaint I have is picture capture & menu options in the software. Although this drive doesn't come w/PowerDVD, I found that capturing stills isn't possible using Cyberlink's solution. When hovering over the menu icons, the "info box" doesn't appear as well. This is a software issue I'm sure.

Don't hesitate buying this. BD media is way too expensive to consider a burner right now anyway. No regrets!
