Strengths: Able to handle a fairly complex return with no problem...asked all the right questions.
Weaknesses: Have no idea why it wouldn't let me take an education credit I was qualified for! Strange!
Summary: I am very pleased with Turbo Tax. I have worked for, and used, H&R Block's Tax Cut with very mixed results. As noted, the only glitch in this program was it's inability to let me take my education credit within the program. I had already done my taxes for this year and was just inputing the finished numbers to see what the product could do so it wasn't huge and I probably would have just written in the numbers myself if it was my original return. But it was very strange, so I reserved a five star rating because these credits are very important ones especially for people with children in school.
That said, it did a fabulous job with my business and rental accounting...all the numbers were bang on!
Since I won't have the education credit for this year, I will certainly buy the product for next year as I'm very pleased over all.

Strengths: - Attention to Details all deductibles possible for home & business
- Well-Explaintory in their help features in audio/video/website/windows help menu
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I've been using TurboTax since it's early time, 10 years plus and it is only get better & better. This year tax 2007, Home & Business Version pushed beyond the Deluxe Version we used every year including all new forms & deductible options in many categories, just check the boxes & boom your refund is getting more & more. New online live filing is cool in case you dont want to install software on your computer, but security will be the issue. The Premier Version seems help small businesses write off most if not all their operating costs. I cant say more, it's a five-star software.

Strengths: Once you have all the financial data needed it is easy to fill all the boxes for the tax return. There is plenty of help, if needed, at almost every stage of the process.
Weaknesses: In special cases such as ATM (alternate minimum tax), foreign holdings, and maybe others TurboTax fails to explain in understandable language what the tax law exactly wants.
Summary: If the tax return is moderately simple the program will satisfy the need of most and save you the expense of a professional accountant. The US tax law being what it is (confusing by design and subject to interpretation) there are always questions with multiple answers.
Electronic filing fees have become excessive, but that is my personal opinion.
I have been using the program for well over 15 years and the yearly improvements have been significant.

Bang for the buck is so-so
Strengths: Has helpful autocalculation modules for maximizing tax returns via retirement contributions and calculating home office deductions. Software was easy to install, stable, and easy to update.
Weaknesses: efile cost is not included in the price. The forms in the final review are not tied back to the input fields so you cannot get feedback (or go to the determining input fields)if unsure.
Summary: I like the direction the turbotax software is heading but it has some way to go especially in the "user-friendliness" and integration areas. Also, we think that in this day and age that efile should have been included in the price, and the efile fee was very high in comparison to competing on line products. Considering these weaknesses, we'll be playing the field next season.

Strengths: Simplicity
Weaknesses: None that I can think of
Summary: I've used TurboTax on and off for several years. Last year I got a free copy of TaxCut, but it was a nightmare as several bugs made life much harder than it should have been.
This year's version is similar to 2005's. I like that I can go directly to the areas that concern me instead of going through the entire interview. The Home/Biz version is not much different than Delux, but it reminded me of a few Home Office deductions that I would have missed otherwise. It's worth the money if you can get a good price.

Turbo Tax 2007
Strengths: OK
Weaknesses: Turbo Tax would not import info from my brokerage account!
I had to manually input all of the info.
Turbo tax also did not answer the phone on tax day.
Summary: Turbo Tax tech support did not answer the phone on tax day.

Strengths: Keeps track of depreciation from previous years and knows how much to depreciate most items.
Weaknesses: No help for specific problems
Summary: Great if you have no major problems. Covers all personal and most business information. The questions are getting easier to understand every year. Its memory does not catch an amended return.

Strengths: The software is very easy to use and calculates your refund or tax payment dynamically as you input your numbers.
Weaknesses: A little pricey but much less than a professional would charge you.
Summary: I was very pleased with the interactive features and ease of use of Turbo Tax Home & Business. This software makes doing an otherwise complicated tax return a snap. There are plenty of leading questions to maximize your deductions that you might not be aware of.

Strengths: Able to get most questions answered within product
Videos to walk thru areas
Weaknesses: Some of the less common areas didn't have full explination
Summary: Overall loved it, and especially at the marked down price i received here around $25. Very thorough. Only had issues where they called things "less common" and so they didn't provide as much detail as the more common problems, which makes sense but when you get the most feature filled version you'd hope all areas were completely detailed.

TurboxTax
Strengths: easy to use
Weaknesses: can be smarter
Summary: It can offer more information about tax. Also it should request password before people can open the file. After buying this product, you still need to pay for e-file. So don't forget to count on that fee!

okay, but not great
Strengths: 401(k)/403(b) optimizer shows how to change contr % and exemptions to save more without taking home less; provides detailed instructions on each of the business expense areas
Weaknesses: difficult to navigate between sections, have to click through a lot
Summary: I'm a musician and thought I needed this version in order to itemize my business expenses and it seems to do a pretty decent job at that. However, if you have stock sales of any kind, this won't help you (says that Schedule D is not yet available). [I used the Premier version in 2006 and that also sucked - it double counted my gains and I thought I was going to owe a boatload. I hired someone to do them for me who said the only way to do stock sales correctly is with the Pro version, which is significantly more expensive.]

Strengths: Ease of use; detailed interviews for your small business
Weaknesses: Retail price (but available for significantly less through Storefront)
Summary: I've used both TurboTax and Tax Cut over the years and I have found TurboTax to be the better option. Although more expensive than its competitors, it is much more user-friendly. Plus, its detailed interview for your small business is great. It helped me identify deductions that might have been overlooked in the regular version. Make sure you shop around online as there are very significant differences in price.

Strengths: Step-by-step walk-through with succinct explanations.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet.
Summary: I formerly handled our tax returns, then things got too complicated, so we switched to a CPA. I bought TurboTax to see if I could come up with the same type of return. Haven't had the appt with CPA yet, but I anticipate final return will be very much the same as TurboTax. I will do our own returns next year if all comes out.

Strengths: Ease of purchase and reasonable cost
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2008-03-26 11:55:50 I procrastinated about doing my 2007 tax return and then realized I had not purchased tax software. I Goggled the product I needed and found this product quickly and saved money at the same time. I use TurboTax every year to do both my personal and business taxes and makes the process, which I dread every year, more tolerable. The program is easy to use and includes guidelines for maximizing deductions and other tax savings. In addition, the state tax portion of the program is a snap once you complete the federal portion and you can file On-Line, hastening the return of any tax refunds to which you are entitled. I used to have my taxes done by a professional tax preparer but had to prepare all the paperwork myself anyway. Using TurboTax was not more difficult and I save hundreds of dollors in tax preparation costs as well. I would recommend TurboTax to everyone.

Strengths: Simple Interview Screens, Many Tax Topic Videos, IRS Publications
Weaknesses: Price :(
Summary: TurboTax products are simply the best! I've used both TurboTax and Taxcut through the years, both are excellent products. However I love TurboTax's interview screens better, and their many Tax Topic Videos which explain new tax rules which many might not be aware of.
If you select the correct TurboTax product according to your tax situation you can't go wrong. It's only weakness that I can see is it's higher price vs Taxcut.
Simply put TurboTax is doing taxes the easy way! :)
