Strengths: It works completely as advertised. Sounds good. Plays good. Looks good. Easy to understand all of the functions. I like being able to detach the control head to discourage would-be thieves.
Weaknesses: There aren't any!
Summary: This car stereo is just super! I love it. The CD player is super-stable. You can't make it miss a beat. I love that when I shut off my car, and then return later, the CD starts up exactly where it left off. Very nice. It plays MP3 files wonderfully. All of my CD music is going to MP3 disks, because you can get 10 CD's onto one! The receiver is very sensitive, pulling in stations well. And the controls, once you understand them, are very easy to operate. Get this stereo. You'll love it, too.

Strengths: The best MP3 player yet. It plays all bit rates flawlessly and returns back to the exact point when stopping or turning the car off. This is needed especially when listening to books or old time radio.
Weaknesses: The CD drawer automatically closes after 30 sec. You just need to be aware of this. No performance weaknesses.
Summary: All controls are easy and intuitive. Knobs are a welcome design rather than a million pushbuttons. Easy to operate and keep eyes on the road.

Strengths: Sounds good. Looks nice. Good tuner.
Weaknesses: Stop playing cds after 1 hour use. Error on screen reads "NO Disc". Did not matter if the cd was burned or retial music.
Summary: Is anyone else having problems reading CDs? It played for about the first hour but now it won't play any cds. I'll have to exchange it from the place I purchased it.

Strengths: Multiple Color display, many nice options and features, CD play resumes where it left off if you turn it off then back on, great for audiobooks.
Weaknesses: Interface is Inconsistant. Left menu is accessed by pressing knob IN, right menu is accessed by pressing tiny menu button. LOUD feature should have been in left menu. Panel is too BRIGHT!
Summary: Even when dimmed, the panel is far too bright in any color but RED. It would also have been nice if the button colors changed to match the panel colors but they're always red... which is fine being how you can't use the thing at night unless the panel is also red.

Should have had a way to turn off the unit. Pressing OFF puts it into DEMO mode which is fairly annoying as it cycles through the colors on the display in BRIGHT mode.

It also seems that if you have a CDR with too many audio files on it, the MP70 will only play the music/audio for the first few dozen files. All files after that appear to be "blank" and you hear no sound for them though in a PC you can confirm that indeed, all files are audio files and have sounds. I've tried contacting Sony about this but haven't received a response yet. This is annoying when I want to make an audiobook into a series of MP3's to listen to in the car without changing CD's all the time. One CD has about 10 "chapters" each with 20 or so files. It will only play the first 6 chapters. At chapter 7 all MP3's appear blank.

Small price to pay for a very nice receiver... though a little more sensitivity in the low-end volume control would be nice as well. ;)

Strengths: Paid $249 at Fry's Electronics =P One bad mofo...
Weaknesses: Well let me think, uhhhh NONE!
Summary: I'm just so happy I can't stand it. $249 woot woot woot. I don't know how Fry's pulls it off but they seem to do these types of deals every so often. I can't beleive thier cost is less then $249. Wow.
