3 Star ReviewKeep video camcorders and digital cameras separate ...
Strengths: This camera has good picture and sound. The 3.5 inch viewing screen is good and rotates nicely.
Weaknesses: This camera is too heavy. The digital still camera is poor. The mpeg movie can use 1 mb per second on a hard drive. The memory stick is not worth having. The software supplied needs improving.
Summary: Keep video camcorders and digital cameras separate. For example the camera should have a flash. Not supplied with the TRV-840. I would recommend a TRV-340 if an 8mm is desired our a mini-dv would be better because of weight.

Strengths: Versatility, fully featured
Weaknesses: still picture quality. heavier than my wife would like. Computer interfaces are not intuitive for Mac. Will need better software. Will never figure out how to make use of all features.
Summary: A fine camera for consumers. Easy to use if you want to just point and shoot. Becomes much more problematical if you want to use all of the features.
