Strengths: Nice clear and sharp picture with good contrast and brightness. Front loading DVD player is easy to operate.
Weaknesses: Remote Control: very basic, cheap unit. Front loading DVD player that increases the depth of the TV.
Summary: I own four flat panel TV's, including a 15" Magnavox (3 years old). I've been very pleased with the long term performance of the 15", so I decided to buy another Magnavox ... its lower price than the other brands was also a major factor. The TV has a large number of interface inputs, both rear and side locations, which is a nice surprise for a low end set. The remote control is very basic and cheap feeling. It would be nice if it was a multi-device control unit. I'm using this TV in my kitchen in a corner location. The front loading DVD player is a big plus since it would be nearly impossible place DVD's into a side loading unit, in this location. However, it adds several inches to the TV's depth, which could present a problem for wall mounting. In my opinion, this is a very nice looking TV. It's in a very small case with thin, matte black side and top panels, a matte finish LCD display and a narrow sound panel across the bottom. Speaking of sound, the TV has very good sound quality and volume. The simulated surround sound option is very impressive. A friend, who services and installs flat panel TV's, told me that Magnavox outsources their electronics. So, for any particular model, it could have cheap Chinese electronics or expensive top-of-the-line ones from a name brand manufacturer. My impression, from the quality of the display to the number of design features, is that this is a nice quality TV. Is it worth saving about $100 over a more expensive brand? It was for me ... maybe not for someone else.
