Strengths: flash. 1.55 mp ccd. crystal clear imagry. nightshot. supernightshot. carl Zeiss Vario-sonnar lens. bluetooth, etc.
Weaknesses: no video light. expensive.
Summary: this product is perfect for the weekend getaway. if you find the right bargin for this camcorder, like i did, you will be satisfied with the camcorder. built in stereo speaker for easy viewing later. flash mount. 2.5" hybrid color swivelscreen LCD. very nice design. looks better than the new dcr-pc-330. with the dcr-pc-120's bluetooth technology, you can transmitt your pictures from your memory stick to your comouter at home with the modem provided. overall, this is a great camcorder to buy, if you find it at the right price.

Strengths: Small size, good lens, 0 Lux rating, Bluetooth connectivity, crystal clear LCD, Memorystick slot.
Weaknesses: The AC charger cannot charge a second battery. Only 8MB Memorystick included, expensive.
Summary: My favorite functions: 1.55 Mega pixel digital camera, Bluetooth connectivity, i.LINK interface for digital video editing, Stamina Infolithium Battery System, NightShot & Super NightShot.

What more could I ask for.

3 CCDs would be nice. But can Sony squeeze them into such a tiny package? That’s the challenge for Sony.

A larger capacity Memorystick included? (With over 200% profit margins on accessories, I don’t think so)

A charger that will allow for a backup battery to be charged, while using another battery in the camcorder. Sony sells a Portable AC Charger (BC-VM50) for $60. This should have been included instead of the ACL-10.

The Bottom Line:

This camcorder has more features than anyone would ever use. It will keep videophiles occupied pushing buttons for a long time. There are cheaper models available that would satisfy the average weekend video warrior. But not the true geek at heart.

Strengths: Great video picture and sound; "overlap" fade feature; excellent battery and energy conserving features; compact package; built-in digital still photo feature.
Weaknesses: Digital still photo quality good but not great (even at 1.5 megapixel); zoom control not easy to use; too many features & buttons make it complicated to understand and remember; titling ability.
Summary: A very impressive video camcorder. Improved still photos over last year's top rated pc110. Great picture, sound are what convinced me to buy this model. Overlap fade feature almost as good as a professional "dissolve", where one video slowly overtakes the previous picture without fading to black in between. Like most newer models, lacks a manual zoom, which gives extra control to videographer.

Owners Manual thorough, but not always easy to understand. For example, it will probably be years before I understand what "blue tooth" technology can do, and how to use it.

Digital still camera feature is useful for when you forget or don't want to bring your "other" still camera. Sorry, but digital just doesn't yet adequately replace 35mm film. Consider purchasing a "Dazzle" brand memory card reader for about $20; it comes in handy transfering photos from camcorder memory card onto computer.

Great energy conservation! I left camcorder on all night, and smart camcorder saved energy so that I still had about 30 minutes left on battery!
