Strengths: Lot's of Hd inputs (2)HDMI (2) Component VGA for computer./excellent HD picture Standard Def is good.
Weaknesses: Lack of hard copied manual. Some remote control functions in the OSD
Summary: I own 2 Olevia LCD's and am quite pleased with them all. The 242v is a bargain for under $700.00. My HD source is Time Warner cable and the picture is as good as my top flite Panasonic plasma. I've also have scanned my digital cable with the ATSC tuner and the tuner does a good job. If you want a big name brand to impress your friends then buy them. You really don't need 1080p unless you have a 60 inch tv and are 6 feet and closer. I can't tell the difference between the two with Blue Ray.Besides no one broadcast in 1080p and they won't in the near future. If you want to keep your hard earned cash, buy this Olevia 242v.

Strengths: Out of Box Picture Quality
Price
Side mounted speakers (I like them)
Weaknesses: PIP is not very intutive
Remote compatibility
Summary: Bought this on BF from BJ.
Looking for a 42" 720P decent LCD for around $700 and found this one one sale.
Out of box, PQ is perfect. A little calibration makes it even fantastic.
Except for the PIP function where one needs to press too many buttons, this TV is a GEM.
Did not find any dead or stuck pixels so far. Angle of view is wider.
Again PQ is comparable to those costing 3 times.
Syntax... keep it up.
No regrets here. Highly recommended.

Strengths: wide angle, crisp, clear. up to 1080i
Weaknesses: side speakers, hard to reach output/inputs, Incompatiable with dishnetwork controller
Summary: I recently bought this TV and it is great. 1080i is super clear. This version of the tv has the speakers on the side and it is not the most sleek looking one. The speakers do their job, I do not set it above 12 on the volume. (perhaps its from the hardwood I have?)
They position the area to plug into input/output kinda far inward so reaching into the back to plug in wires is not not conveient.
I cannot program this tv to work with my dishnetwork controller. I tried to do a manual scan of it as well, no luck. I got this tv for a decent price, so I am satisfied with my purchase. :)

Strengths: cheap and do the work
Weaknesses: not 1080p
Summary: I have two LCD TVs in the home. One is 47" philips (1080p) and another is Olevia 242v. I knew the olevia pic quality was not the same good as philips when I ordered them almost at the same time. But I placed Philips in living room and Olevia in the bedroom. Without philips at the side, I think the quality of Olevia is still striking on every HD shows I watched. The sound is fairly good too. I will never go back to SD TV. Actually, I felt the 242v was a better buy given that the difference I can see/feel and the prices were so different by $500 (30%). Most HD TV I received are 1080p, so that my Olevia can just do fine on most of the job and only a few HD movies I rent would demand 1080p. I am really happied with the Olevia purchase.

Strengths: Good pic/sound quality.
Weaknesses: Slow start.
Summary: I have been watching this TV almost everyday for five months now. I am very satisfied with its picture and sound. I have time-warner cable (HD) at home, so that I was amazing about the HD quality on this TV every time I turned it on. I also rent/own many DVDs and watch them frequently at home. For that purpose, I bought Philips 5960 DVD player which can upconvert DVD to HD signal. I was very pleased with the HD effect. Recently, I bought HD camcorder (canon HV30). I was astonished by the shots showing on this TV. It is wonderful. Without seeing it myself, I will never believe that I can do it.

Strengths: Price, features
Weaknesses: none found yet
Summary: I definately was looking at price as my prime motivating factor when searching for a flat screen TV. The Olevia 242V is definately a great value for the money. It worked great right out of the box with little setup required. If I ever look to upgrade again, I will definately look at Olevia again.

Strengths: Size & Price, picture quality straight on is pretty good.
Weaknesses: Not very good viewing angle, picture quickly "grays out" like older lcd monitors when not viewing straight on.
Summary: My wife and I just purchased this TV and it is our second lcd tv. This is by far the cheapest 42" tv you can buy. I got it at Microcenter for $747 (including tax, minus $100 rebate). The contrast ratio is not incredible (only 1600:1) so don't expect the blacks to be really black. The picture is best viewed straight on and if you view it from the side, the whole picture quality is grayed. I love all the inputs it has and it is very light. The other big complaint is their "user-friendly" display menu. It is the worst menu display I have ever seen. You will have the hardest time trying to get to the different menus, but after a couple days of blood sweat and tears, you get used to it. No dead pixels yet, but I've only had it a couple weeks.

Strengths: Size, design, inputs, price
Weaknesses: None to note
Summary: I ordered this TV from MacMall.com last week. I had an Olevia 323V before this TV, and I sold it and bought this as a size upgrade. Not taking into account how hard it was to get MacMall to take my order.... I am very pleased with the product. It has vibrant colors, good layout, sound quality is surprisingly better than the 32" model I think, and it is all around a beautiful TV. I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.
I'm actually using the TV as a monitor to write this review!
