Weaknesses: Connects directly to motherboard's USB pin header and not USB ports, and also connects to IEEE 1394 pin headers and not IEEE 1394 ports. Limited combination 7-in-1 reader/writer support.
Summary: This product is OK. No big deal. It was easy to install, but depending on the computer you might face some installation issues. As mentioned, it connects directly to motherboard's USB pin header and NOT USB ports, and also connects to IEEE 1394 pin headers and NOT IEEE 1394 ports. Also it only recognizes 7-in-1 combination media (read/write). Where as all other Memory Card Readers support 12-in-1 and up (or even more). As for the price, it is a bit high ($29.99). I purchased this with a mail-in-rebate. WORST experience ever. It took Soyo seven months to send me my rebate. Not to mention two months of reminding and nagging them about the rebate. I was not impressed with the way they handled this issue. So if you do decide to purchase this product. First, shop around. For this price you can get a more advanced card reader with the latest media (perhaps cheaper). Also check with the retailer. Make sure they can help you if you experience any difficulty with your rebate. Overall this product is OK, but I will definitely spend a little bit more and get a better product. Perhaps a product that is more versatile and manufactured by a reputable company. In the end it is all about convenience and satisfaction.
