1 Star ReviewOstia/Pharos 7.5 Software, 5.0 Maps...NOT worth the money....buy MAPOPOLIS instead
Strengths: 2D and 3D mapping capabilities User interface is OK Clear voice navigation
Weaknesses: Very poor routing, slow rerouting capabilities - not reliable for optimal routing!!! Hard to read street names - no way to increase font size
Summary: I am very disappointed with this software. Routing is NOT optimal in any mode (Fastest, shortest, avoid highway modes). The routing will take you out of your way to get to your destination. It will even tell you to turn where there are no streets/roads or make a loop thru a subdivision and get back on the road you just got off. When set to Shortest route mode, it told me to take a frontage road vice a parallel highway which would have been faster. I've tried all three modes to get to work and all three directed me past the optimal exit which would have added 10-15 minutes to my commute.

I tried the demo version of MAPOPOLIS and it works much better than Pharos and is much faster with more useful features...I would definitely recommend MAPOPOLIS over Ostia.

3 Star ReviewA Navigator is only as good as his map
Strengths: Great hardware and UI
Weaknesses: Map Data is old and inaccurate - Fatal flaw.
Summary: The Pharos hardware is great; fast, accurate, flexible (CF, Bluetooth, cabled), compact.

The Ostia software is great; easy to use (love the "Home" and "Auto Re-route" features), fast, intuitive (after reading the manual to understand the icons).

The Map data… well that is a different story. It is old and inaccurate (missing highways and major streets that have been in place for 5+ years; and yes, I did download their “latest” maps via “Smart Maps”).

Bottom line is I do not trust their maps to get me to where I want to go in a city I do not know. I’ll just use the Pharos hardware with Pocket Streets & Trips or Mapopolis.

So my advice is to just by their hardware w/o Ostia and get another Navigation Application with reliable map data.

2 Star ReviewHardware is fine but the software is pathetic: no ...
Strengths: NA
Weaknesses: Inadequate and incorrect map database. Terrible user interface.
Summary: Hardware is fine but the software is pathetic: no ability to draw routes on desktop and download; no ability to set waypoints by clicking on the map; whole subdivsions are missing from the database; routes are drawn on roads that don't exist.
