Strengths: Has everything an everyday user needs in a point-and-shoot: image stabilization, face recognition, wide-angle lens, compact & pocketable. Impressive image quality for a point-and-shoot.
Weaknesses: Lacks an optical viewfinder, but how many point-and-shoot users actually use them nowadays?
Summary: This is my 4th Canon digi-cam from the PowerShot line and I'm again impressed by what Canon has delivered. Despite its compact size, it produces excellent pictures and awesome specs (8MP, 3.8x opt zoom, etc).

My main decision to go with this model over some of the other available models such as the SD850IS was because of the wide-angle lens on this model. The lens makes it easier to capture more of the surrounding area into your pictures, and with point-and-shoot cameras that's usually the main objective as opposed to SLRs which are typically used for longer shots.

I really have no complaints about this camera. You get great bang-for-the-buck especially with the price having fallen sharply since Canon released the new line of 10MP Powershots: SD770IS, SD790IS, SD890IS. I still prefer this camera over the new line since none of the cameras in the new line offers a wide-angle lens.

Strengths: stylish, good performacne
Weaknesses: no viewfinder
Summary: Canon SD870 IS is a compact stylish digital camera. I believe it is the only model in SD family that provide a wide coverage down to 28mm. The IS works well. It's unlikely to get a blurry image unless in low light condition. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't has a viewfinder. For people who is used to SLR, this is really annoying.

Strengths: Looks, LCD, Controls, Features
Weaknesses: No optical viewfinder, IQ
Summary: I wanted another Canon so my wife and I both had one for our picture taking pleasure. We have the SD800 with wide-angle which we like so I thought htis would be a good accompanying camera. It is pretty similar except this one doesn't have the optical viewfinder. I think the IQ is better on the SD800 too. But overall Canon is the go-to brand in my opinion and this will be in my pocket for trips and what not. Nice movies at 640x320 with sound too.

Strengths: Small. Powerful. Large Screen. Common Memory Card.
Weaknesses: No Viewfinder (Digital Only). Weak Battery/Memory Card Door.
Summary: I got this camera for Christmas and it's the best camera I've owned so far. My last digital camera was the SD450 and prior to that, the S30. I like Canons. They're reliable performers for someone who's more point and shoot than pro.

The large digital screen is very nice. It has to be, since the camera does not have a viewfinder to look through for taking shots. I worry that when traveling or on the road, the battery might die out too fast, but I haven't taken it out much yet to find out.

I use this camera a lot to take photos of items for auctions so the macro and still shot settings are important to me. Canon maintains the same basic setups from year to year, so familiarity was a big part of purchasing this camera after the SD450.

Another important feature is that it uses a pretty common and affordable memory type. I was able to get a brand name 4GB SDHC card for around $30. It's fast and holds plenty enough pics for my purposes.

Appearance-wise, the camera is small and sleek looking. I know it has a lot more features than I've utilized so far, like the wide-angle lenses and speeds settings. I hope to learn more about photography while using this camera to better utilize its capabilities.

It's not the cheapest option, but I wanted one that would last me a good long time before the next upgrade. I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with this for quite awhile.

Strengths: Fast, Small, Large viewing screen, 8mp, Red Eye correction
Weaknesses: None!
Summary: I love this camera! I replaced my Canon SD20 with this camera because of the large viewing screen and the built in red eye correction. My son has large pupils and I have to correct every picture on my Mac, but that does not always seem to work, but with built in red eye correction I can fix it before I upload them to the computer.

The camera qualities are: 8 mega pixels, 3.8x optical zoom, 3.0 LCD screen, 16:9 widescreen, touch control dial, pictbridge, face detection, and many more features!

I found that there is really no hesitation when you want to take continuous pictures and viewing pictures is just as quick also. I mean when you have an active 1 year old you need a fast camera to catch everything!

I love Canon products, especially the Elph line because of the size and compact ability. This is a great camera to carry around for everyday uses and it does take great pictures!!

Strengths: Size, speed, quality, three inch display
Weaknesses: Batter/memory card door is a bit flimsy but holding up well.
Summary: I researched point and shoot digital cameras pretty thoroughly and decided on this Canon because of the performance. I needed a fast camera with minimal shutter lag issues. This camera is about the size of a deck of cards and takes shots quickly. Great for taking pics of kids or most anything else without having to lug around a large SLR.
