Good port of the Xbox 360 game
Strengths: Excellent visuals and sound. Great PC controls. Added content. Ability to turn on/off extreme gore.
Weaknesses: Requires creating/using a Windows Live account to save the game in single player. Requires Windows/Xbox Gold (i.e., paid) account for certain types of multiplayer/matchmaking.
Summary: Once you get used to the PC controls, I believe they are superior to the 360 controller. It's good, however, that the use of the 360 controller is still an option in the game. Improved visuals are available if you have at least a mid-range system. I (8800 GTS/Core2Quad) had a solid frame rate of about 60 with most details turned to high. Game play/added content is excellent.
I didn't like the fact this game has to be activated with a Windows live account. I suspect this will eliminate the possibility to trade/sell the game used. For me, this is a serious weakness and would cause me not to purchase the game again. If you are into multiplayer, this may not be as big an issue.

Strengths: Looks great. Great port from the Xbox 360 version.
Weaknesses: Lack of multiplayer competition in contrast to Xbox 360 version. Requires advanced PC to play at high quality.
Summary: Gears of War PC is a great port from the Xbox 360 version. Same great content as the Xbox 360 version but with the additional act containing 5 more chapters.
Multiplayer is not as competitive as the Xbox 360 as there are less people playing.

Strengths: Great video and audio effects, excellent online play, and fun to play multiplayer contest
Weaknesses: Have to Pay for Live
Summary: This game has a great gameplay, video and audio effects, and storylines. It also has a good online play option, in which you can find may people playing this game. But you have to pay for that and when you play this game, you can feel that it was made for console game, not PC game, so its control with keyboard and mouse seems to be awkward sometimes. Despite some limits, this game is fun to play and I think a good game.

Strengths: Graphics are very detailed and well-done. Squad acts/reacts in a realistic manner as well as the enemies.
Weaknesses: Numerous crashes for different reasons. Weapons do not "feel" real.
Summary: If you have the patience to put up with the crashes then I would say that this game is one you should have and will make a welcome addition to anyone's PC game library.

Strengths: Taking cover and firing from cover is awesome. Some really nice special effects.
Weaknesses: Weapons and enemies don't feel real.
Summary: The keyboard controls feel like they were designed for a console game first. This game was converted from a console game so this is understandable. What I don't understand is how people play console shooter games without a mouse. Being able to use the keyboard and mouse for aiming really makes a big difference for this game. Some of the special effects make you feel there, like when you kick in a door and the screen tilts a little, or the blur when you spin around before you can see clearly, or how you can the heat from your gun after firing. I don't think the gore effects were done all that well. The enemies and weapons don't feel real enough to me.

Strengths: Great graphics, fun game, cross-platform playability
Weaknesses: system requirements, unusual camera position (for me), bugs you for Live account every time
Summary: The game is a nice one overall. Graphics are great, and playability is fun. However, it runs jittery on my system, even though it is a 2.2Ghz dual core, with overclocked 8900GTS which works great on almost all other games. I had to turn graphics specs down from the highest to make it playable, which takes away from the niceness of the graphics. Also, i love FPS games, but most are in the first person view, where your view is what the character sees. This one is a bit different in that it is a third person view (Camera floats behind you). It takes some time to get used to that, especially when turning around. When you turn , the view lags for a few seconds before moving behind you again. This might not be a big deal for people used to that viewpoint...I am not, which made the game take a while for me to get used to.
Also, the game would bug me everytime I started it for a Live login. While i can set one up, I didn't at first, and just used the quick game option, so I had to keep going through that screen when starting the game. No big deal, but you need the account to save your games, which is rather annoying.
Other than that, it is a fun game, and I would have no problem recommending it for fans of the genre.

Strengths: Great graphics, familiar if you played the Xbox version.
Weaknesses: Windows Live account needed for online play.
Summary: I purchased this game for my son and he pretty much is pleased with it. The graphics are impressive especially on a current PC set up for gaming. The gameplay is similar to the Xbox version and the keyboard and mouse can be used together quite effectively. I think you have better control with the mouse for aiming and turning but the gamepad makes for easier play especially if you are already use to playing Gears on an Xbox. There are some new areas to resolve and the checkpoints seem further apart. A Windows Live account is needed for online multiplayer action. This game was worth the wait but an experienced gamer will finish in about 12 to 15 hours.

Strengths: More Levels Than The Xbox 360 Version,
Better Graphics
Weaknesses: Lag at certain points, Lack Of Online Players
Summary: The PC version of gears has come years later and it was somewhat worth the wait. In the pc version of gears, their is in extra chapter in which you can fight a gruesome monster named the Bermack which you cannot fight in the xbox version. Also, if you have a high end pc the graphics are better than the xbox version. Recently, I went online and very few servers were running which I wasn't to happy about. But overall, its gears of war at its best.

Strengths: Improved graphics for the PC with the same great gameplay! There's also a bonus level where you can take down the Brumak.
Weaknesses: No cross-platform online play.
Summary: I have thoroughly enjoyed Gears of War. I had already played through the game when it finally came to PC, so I purchased it as I did not have a 360 at the time. The gameplay is completely unchanged, except you can use a mouse and keyboard this time around. While this sounds like a good thing on paper, in practice the mouse & keyboard combo never felt quite right for Gears, so I soon started using a 360 gamepad I had purchased just for my computer. As to be expected, Gears on PC retains the exact same layout of the 360 version, so no learning curve is needed. I have yet to play the PC version online, but I do enjoy how the PC and 360 versions have separate achievements (that are the same), meaning that you can earn double the points if you have both versions. I will caution owners of the 360 version... There's absolutely no reason to pick this up for the PC, as the bonus mission, while it's fun and does actually add to the background of Marcus, is not worth the purchase of the entire game again. That is, unless you find a copy for cheap (say, less than $20). I have played the 360 version online, so I expect the PC version to be identical, save the extra mode the developers added.

Strengths: Visual is one of the best!
Weaknesses: Bugs in Games for Windows thing.
Summary: Graphics pretty good and you don't need a super souped up PC to play it. I'm glad I bought the pc version because of the control scheme. No, it's not first person shooter but it is a lot more enjoyable on PC with keyboard and mouse(for me, anyway). A very good purchase I've made in a long time.

Strengths: Excellent game
Weaknesses: GFW Live has bugs
Summary: Gears of War is the best game in all times. I own the Xbox version and bought the PC version for the new content and user-created mods.
Comparing with Xbox version, the graphics is definitely better. You need to a good graphics card to achieve that though. I'm running a 8800gt at 1650x1024.
Games For Windows (GFW) Live has lots of bugs, so there are connection and crashes due to that. Also, as of today not many people are playing this game. Maybe everyone is playing Crysis...
