Strengths: incredibly versatile electronic equalizer settings, big sound quality for a 200$ head unit, pop up rotary volume knob is easy to use.
Weaknesses: cheesy silver finish, no MP3 playback
Summary: 2002-06-06 14:17:59 I bought this Pioneer DEH-P4400 CD player for my 1991 acura integra. I previously owned a Pioneer DEH-2100 and a pioneer DEH-P3300, so I was familiar with the brand. Installation was easy and it fit perfectly. Once I got it hooked up, all I can say is WOW!. The Easy EQ settings really bring out the music! My car has 6.5" speakers and it really sends the bass throughout the car. Bass and treble settings can be fine-tuned for your specific needs. The biggest plus with this unit it the ease-of-use. It has a large, pop-up volume knob that is easy to find at night and is easy to grip. The EL display is top-notch and is very bright and clear. Multicolored too. One unique feature is the dimming of the display when the headlights are on, just like an OEM unit. It also has a handy detatchable flap-face. The remote is an improvement over previous models, it actually has rubber buttons and is larger. 50Wx4 output is way more than sufficient. XM-ready and CD-Changer compatible. the down side? Well there are a few. It has no MP3 playback (CD-RW and CD-R will work though). The silver finish is kind of cheesy-looking. The menu is hard to figure out. The pins which mount the detatchable flap face look fragile and the face is difficult to re-install. Overall an excellent unit for the 200$ price range and A definate thumbs up! I would definately buy one again, the MP3 compatible players arent worth the extra 150$ at this time. You wont regret it!!
