Strengths: Has more functions on it than the generic 3rd party remote for PS2, and it doesn't take up a spot where you would plug in a controller.
Weaknesses: Feels kind of uncomfortable in your hand. Sony could have worked on the ergonomic aspect of this remote a little more.
Summary: Bottom line, it is a good remote but Sony could have done better. It is nice not having to plug in and unplug adapters in order to play games. That's not even worth it. This remote is good enough, though, to choose it over the 3rd party remotes. Note to Sony: come up with a better design for when the PS3 comes out.

When I first received the universal remote, I was ...
Strengths: Provides the functions needed for remote DVD playback.
Weaknesses: Poor signal strength.
Summary: When I first received the universal remote, I was surprised as to how small it was. Nevertheless, right from the beginning it was very easy to use. The buttons are small, but efficient. I would have given this product a much better rating, but the signal strength from the remote to the receiver isn't very strong. You have to position the remote accurately so that the receiver will pick up the signal.

Strengths: Very useful and cheaper than the Xbox one.
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: 2003-11-23 17:40:17 I bought this and pretty happy with the remote. Very cool looking remote. Now I dont have to use the joystick to play dvd. But, it should have been included free with the console!

Strengths: Remote dvd control with all kinds of features!
Weaknesses: No good grip due to square edges/lack of rubber on the edges. The IR received doesn't have "pass-thru," controller capability, unlike other remote controllers. But these aren't Sony remotes.
Summary: A great remotes since you can do all kinds of features! You don't want to play basic games with the remote, since its not really designed for it. You'll be better off getting a dedicated wireless controller.

First off, this probably should have come with the ...
Strengths: Very functional, provides all the capabilities of a regular dvd player's remote.
Weaknesses: Square edges not the most ergonomic.
Summary: First off, this probably should have come with the system. But it is a very capable remote. The numerous features make it a little more difficult to use though with so many buttons. Also, the square edges makes it less comfortable to hold than other remotes. But overall, it makes it a much better dvd player than with the controller, so you don't have to figure out the controls for dvd's and navigate menus all the time.

Strengths: Easy to handle and use. Easy to see the color printed buttons.
Weaknesses: The print above the upper buttons is not very visable.
Summary: 2004-03-03 10:35:49 Remote design has a classy look. It's easy to understand the use of the buttons. Works great when watching a DVD or listening to a CD. A must have with the ownership of a Playstation 2. Highly recommend purchasing.

Strengths: For me it works like a dvd remote should and prefer it better than using the controller. Nice design with lots of buttons and functions.
Weaknesses: It's not a universal remote. Somewhat weak IR.
Summary: It's is a great remote and better than using your controller. Works like any dvd player remote but only controlls the PS2. The price has dropped so if you are still using your controller as your "remote" you should buy one.
