Strengths: Good overall drive
Weaknesses: Depending on the software, this burrner will create CDs that skip.
Summary: With the Nero that normally comes with this drive, you'll get skips creating cds from MP3s. However, since this is a Sony drive, you get can Sony CD Extreme from the sony site and this software works great with this drive. I personally use EZ CD Creator and it also works great. Just don't use Nero with it. Unlike the guy before me, I burn at 20x and have EZ CD Creator use up 5-50% of the CPU, when turning to the new track (as with all burning software) it uses up around 99% CPU for about 3 seconds. Being that it takes a whopping 4-5 minutes to burn a full 80 CD (including conversion) I can deal with that :) I think it's a great CD burner for the price.

2 Star ReviewThis unit takes all the CPU power my Athlon 1600+ ...
Strengths: Works...barely. Can't reach 24x in PIO mode w/o draining buffer and going into Buffer-underun. 12x takes CPU to 87%+
Weaknesses: Will not work in DMA mode in any NT class OS. Confirmed by Sony technical
Summary: This unit takes all the CPU power my Athlon 1600+ can offer and at LESS than rated speed. Forget 24x, it goes into Burn Protection and slows in any NT OS.
