Strengths: expandable, clear sound, intercom,
Weaknesses: haven't found any
Summary: I was going to be switching my home phone service and discovered my 2.4ghz phones were the reason for my net connection dropping anytime I used the phone, so I started researching to buy new phones. These phones had every feature I wanted plus more, great reviews and I got a GREAT deal on these ($65 and free shipping) so I figured I'd try them out. I am so happy with this purchase. The sound is clear and crisp and I have had no problems with it interfering with my internet connection.

One of my favorite features on this phone is the ability to enter numbers into the phone book on one handset and copy to the others. The best part about that though is you can choose which handsets you want to copy too. That way I didn't have to copy the phone numbers of my adult friends, or the bank, or any other such numbers to my daughters handset in her room but could still send them to my bedroom extension.

Speaking of my daughter, she LOVES the intercom feature. If you have kids that love to talk on the phone, this feature will get used a lot. She uses it especially to ask for help when she's doing homework and I'm cooking or something. It rings between handsets (you choose which one) and you answer as though it were an incoming call. However, if an actual incoming call comes in it will still ring through so you don't have to worry about tying up the phone using the intercom. Great feature with lots of use already!

I also liked that you can name the handsets and it will display whatever name you give it. If you enter "living room" that's what you see looking at the handset or when selecting which one to intercom or transfer a call to. It is much easier than trying to remember what room the base for "handset #2" is in; which of course also makes sure the phones get put back on their proper bases.

I have only had them a few weeks so I'm sure I'll just keep finding more great features as I really get to playing with them but I figured all this out without the use of the manual. I don't understand the other reviews saying the set up was complicated. Plug them in, charge them up (for 15-20 hours recommended) and they are ready to start using. Granted you DO have to program your phone book in but as stated above you only have to do it once. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a new phone system

Strengths: Expandable; great range (at least it worked in my 1/2 acre yard); ability to move phonebook from one handset to another; audio and label features for handsets; good clarity; footprint of base is small
Weaknesses: I agree that it is a bit complex; No backspace function to back out of menus other than hitting the END key.
Summary: I've had a Uniden product, and once again I'm very satisfied with it. I primarily bought it for its ability to expand to six handsets and its operating frequency of 1.9 GHz. I just signed up with Verizon FIOS and had to get rid of my 2.4 GHz cordless phone which is the operating frequency of the Verizon wireless router. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I could transfer the phonebook information from one handset to another as well as display a specific name for each handset on the display. It range covers my yard adequately (150' x 106'; have to admit that I didn't take a handset to the corner of my yard, but it covered where I wanted it to go). The handsets allow you to select an audio clarity (kinda like adjusting the treble on a stereo...low-normal-high) as well as you can adjust the volume. So far we've liked it very much. Now, we will see how long it lasts...

Strengths: Supports up to 4 handsets, Wireless friendly, simple setup, built in answering machine, small, nice looking!
Weaknesses: none..
Summary: I love this phone, it was easy to setup with my vonage phone service. I wanted a wireless phone that wouldn't interfere with my wireless network and so far I haven't had any issues with it at all. The built in voice mail works great and phone calls sound crisp and clear. I would recommend this phone to anyone. The thing I like most about it is how small it is.

Strengths: This phone is great. It provides a good number of handsets so that each floor of the house can have a cordless phone; great when you're doing something and need to multitask. Clear reception.
Weaknesses: Only one I've had to deal with is the one handset will occasionally (twice) disconnect, saying it's "out of range" even though it's the handset from the base unit.
Summary: This phone replaced an old ATT 2-unit model that was ALWAYS eating batteries. This phone has been great so far; clear reception, plenty of handsets (expandable too!), and easy to use. I didn't read the manual and I had no trouble understanding how to use the phone or its features, so obviously it's pretty easy. The caller ID feature, the ability to set ringtones for different callers, etc., makes this phone very versatile as well. I'd recommend it.

Strengths: Power of the system. Clear voice. Multi 3 way use.
Weaknesses: None
Summary: 2008-04-25 17:26:06 We needed a replacement phone system for our 2nd home and since having Uniden in our other home with no problems we decided to stay with a product that tried and true. The 6.0 range seems to have made the signal clearer and stronger. This Uniden system allows 3 way calling and two people can use the phone and speak to the other party on the line together. Makes talking to the grandkids great.

Strengths: Nice design, good features like LED message indicator, headset jacks on handsets. And call quality is very good.
Weaknesses: Range could be better, the range doesn't seem any better than my previous 2.4Ghz phone
Summary: This is the 2nd Uniden phone set I've had and I won't buy anything else. Wish it had a larger selection of ring tones, but that's quibbling. I just wish it had better range.

Strengths: Crystal clear reception in any part of the house, even with my WLAN . A nice variety of ringtones that are customizable to your personal phonebook. Easy to use answering machine.
Weaknesses: You can individually change the ring on each handset to be non-coordinating, which can be annoying if they are all set differently. (i.e) your kids having fun. Each handset ringer is a little low.
Summary: It is a smaller, nice feeling phone that isn't too complicated to set up if you just take a minute and read the manual. The base ringer is loud enough to hear over household noise, which makes up for the quite handsets. I have been searching for a multiple handset/ answerer that wouldn't interfere with my wireless network. It sure doesn't! This is the only DECT out there I liked, after a few 5.8 that were terrible and made me wish for simpler times with better reception on our house phones. A similar model(this is the 2008 model) received high ratings in Consumer Reports, so I jumped at the $79.62 price at Sam's Club. If you have bad static or a buzzing echo every time you call out, this is the new phone system for you!

Strengths: Clear voice with great reception, even in potentially high interference areas. Can add additional headsets.
Weaknesses: Somewhat more complicated set up, but results are well worth it.
Summary: This the best cordless I've used yet ! Very clear and quiet , interference-free reception. There is absolutely no noise , even near my computer router ( this is not the case with my other Uniden phone model # TRU 4465 ).

Nicely designed and light, Main unit with answering machine is compact,

You can add more phones as needed.

Set up is a little more complicated, but the results are well worth the effort !

I would highly recommend an initial charging time of 20 hours for the phones, BEFORE connecting main unit to your telephone line. This insures a full initial charge.

Strengths: Frequency, clarity, and performance is excellent.Does not get interference from other devices. Set includes base phone, digital answering, caller Id, and 2 extra handsets and a host of other features
Weaknesses: Many GREAT features but operation is a bit harder to use than average. Read all instruction complicated to understand use of phone and all its features.
Summary: Uniden updated the 5.8 with the Uniden Dect 6.0. The features are great. The average price is $105.00. The phone expands up to 6 hand sets on one phone jack. This phone will meet all of your needs. I love the phone.

1 Star ReviewSquealing issues
Strengths: Address book
Weaknesses: interference
Summary: I received this phone as a birthday gift. At first I thought it was great, but within a few phone calls I discovered that it would just start squealing for no reason. I would have to flash like I was switching to call waiting, then do it again to get back to the call. Sometimes this would happen multiple times during a call. I am planning to return it to the store and purchase a new phone.

Strengths: Works! First time set up right out of box no problems. People on other end sound perfect.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: I held out a long time to get a new phone system and I am glad I did! Uniden does it all in this phone. Love that I can stick in my headphones or not. Love all the extensions, love the look of the phone, I love all the little extras that went into this phone. Everything really works!

Strengths: Great Speaker phon and clarity on the other end seem to be good that some can't tell I am on a speakerphone. Lighted keypad makes it easy to dial in the dark.
Weaknesses: I haven't found any yet.
Summary: This phone is by far the best of those I have tested. It is all the features any basic phone user needs. I was especially grateful of how clear the speakerphone actually is on the other end according to people I have spoken to using it, they say it sounds great.
