Strengths: Crystal Clear Sound! Excellent. Can be plugged into a dvd player.
Weaknesses: no weakness.
Summary: 2003-07-21 06:31:29 I have bought it for 4 weeks and i was wondering whether creative inspire 5700 would be better or the creative megaworks would be better. after thinking for sometime, i decided to buy this set of speakers.

Honestly, the moneys spent is worth it. The sound quality is extremely good. So far so good.

Strengths: Quality of sound, ease of setup, quality of construction, compatibility with products.
Weaknesses: Not quite enough power for my taste.
Summary: Overall, I'm very satisfied with the product. I'm still waiting for my new computer to arrive (with the SB Audigy Gamer sound card), so I hooked the system up to my DVD player for movie surround sound, and the sound quality is very good. My only complaint is that it doesn't quite get loud enough to really blow me away (I have all the volume controls maxxed out, and at full volume, the quality is perfect). I found that with a little help from my stereo system I get a VERY LOUD, surround, pleasing sound experience. I might be asking too much, since my wife was awed by the system at about 1/2 max volume and wouldn't let me turn it any louder.

It is also worth noting, that I accidentally dropped the amp/decoder module from 5ft onto a maple floor (OUCH!); the face plate popped off, but popped back on easily, and so far as I can tell, it still works perfectly...that is a sign of high-quality construction. I got the thing, including shipping, for about $250 when it would have cost me about $400-450 for a system like the Klipsch (which has a lot more power), and I'm satisfied that I got a good bang for my buck.

Once I get my computer with the ultra-compatible sound card, I will move this surround system to the computer, then probably buy a higher-output system for my home theatre. This Creative system will really rock for the vid games, which is why I bought it in the first place, and it also does a very good job as an inexpensive home theatre system for most people.

Strengths: excellent sound quality for games, DVDs, and music. Extreemly versatile and high-quality even without a $150 sound card.
Weaknesses: none yet
Summary: I have owned these speakers for half a year now and I must say that I LOVE them. I am a major gamer and the added advantage of 5.1 surround in games such as Unreal 2003 let you know where the action is. The speakers also deliver movie-theatre quality sound when watching DVDs. I recently invested in a sound audigy audio card and it significantly increased the sound quality, but the sound was still excellent on my old 16 bit card. I would recommend this set to anyone who was willing to invest in high-quality speakers.
