Cuisinart 12 Cup Programable Coffemaker
Strengths: Carafe has non-drip lip and man-sized handle.
Weaknesses: Ineffective water filter cartridge that's expensive to replace. Miniscule digital clock.
Summary: This unit replaces our 1 year old Gevalia 12 cup coffeemaker that no longer produces very hot pots of drip coffee. The Cuisinart brews a full pot very hot and very quickly. The Gevalia carafe could not be poured without dripping. The Cuisinart carafe pours drip free. Its handle is larger and more comfortable, too. The carbon water filter is an inadequate substitute for a Brita-type pitcher or faucet filter. The digital clock is too small to be seen from more than 2 feet away. Is the Cuisinart model worth 5 times the Gevalia model? No way.
