Strengths: Ease of setup, unobtrusive, expandable
Weaknesses: remote antenna
Summary: I've had this system for over a year, and have been very happy with it. Is very easy to set up, upgrade firmware, and the sound is great (I'm not an audiophile). Only complaint is the remote antenna (internal) breaks easily of dropped. I have 3 boys who use the system, but I've had to solder the antenna twice! Overall, very, very pleased.

Strengths: OUtstanding Sound Quality
Weaknesses: Cost
Summary: The Bose 28 is an outstanding piece of equipment. The sound quality is outstanding and I like the fact that the speakers are compact. The only thing I was shocked to see on my Bose 28 was a lack of componet wires. Bose has an adapter that plus into the S Video and Yellow video out that has made a difference in my picture quality. Overall, it is a great system and I highly recommend it to all. Price is an issue... but if you consider the sound quality for the price, it really is a bargain and the company stands behind the product as well! A+++

Strengths: Self setup using Adapt-Q for overcoming room differences and problem areas for the best sound possible in your environment. Radio Frequency remote works through walls so you can hide it anywhere.
Weaknesses: Not quite enough inputs for other components.
Summary: 2004-09-23 22:18:23 Just wanted to say the previous review was way off the mark. It does have component video. Yes it does have VCR input so you can add a VCR, the DVD is internal. It also has tape, aux, TV with digital inputs and outputs. This is a great system to make the wife happy with the small unobtrusive speaker system and the big sound for the music and movie enthusiast. Don't think the previous reviewer even really owns one or didn't read his manual because it sounds like he was reviewing a whole different system. Please don't base your decision on that guy.

Strengths: Sounds great when setup with AdaptiQ, multi-zone, visual design, quality, Bose ongoing support and most importantly the size, yes gentlemen size does matter regardless of what your other half says. :)
Weaknesses: For some the price may be it's biggest weakness.
Summary: I purchased mine over two years ago when the 28 first came to the market; I have been impressed ever since. I have friends who have Dennon, Yamaha, etc. and it takes up half of their living room with huge stands of equipment and speakers that are 5 feet high.

Just about everyone who comes over to watch movies or just hang out is amazed that the speakers and system is transparent to the room and doesn’t dominate the décor.

As far as Bose and their customer support they rate 2nd in my book just behind Lexus. You may say well why do you need customer support, well I have experienced any problems with the system but when I purchased mine AdaptiQ wasn’t out, it started shipping about 8 months or so after, so I called Bose and told them my situation and they sent free of charge and shipping the AdaptiQ headphones and CD to update my LS28. About every six-eight months I get a new DVD from them to update to the latest firmware.

I have just recently installed the 251 and SA-3 outdoor system and it’s superb, we can have party zones with different genres playing inside and outside, I simply love it. Oh did I mention that it took about 15 minutes to setup.

Just so all the Bose haters know I’m not here to say that Bose provides better sound. Obviously anyone with an above average knowledge of speakers would know that due to the shear size of the Jewel Cube speakers they can’t provide the same range as larger size systems. And besides my ears are just not that acoustically acute to notice the difference. So I hope this review helps those that are leaning one way or the other and for those you have an LS system, enjoy.

1 Star Reviewcrap speakers, crap company, waste of money
Strengths: this is bose were talking about there is no strengths
Weaknesses: the cube speakers, the sub the reciever basically everything
Summary: bose is crap, why did i even spend this much money on a crap system, i ended up getting a harman/kardon set up for a little more money than this, and harman/kardon is worth getting, the cube speakers suck, i could never use those to replace an actual center speaker, the bass module (bose trying to sound smart) which is just a subwoofer but bose likes to sound smart, anyways doesnt have any power the sound quality gets destorted when turned up loud, ive heard better sound from a 300 dollar onkyo system.
