Strengths: Sleek & Elegant. Easy to setup. Comes with mounting brackets, hardware, and table stands as well as 15 ft. of color coded cabling.
Weaknesses: Requires a separate subwoofer to get full natural sound. Also requires a separate A/V receiver.
Summary: If you have a separate A/V receiver and a subwoofer and you plan to use this in a small to medium size room (say up to 10x20) and you don't want to cut holes into walls to run and conceal the wires for a 5.1 or 7.1 system, then you should consider this SurroundBar 50. The sound is clean and natural. I purchased the Polk Audio PSW111 Compact Powered 8-Inch Subwoofer to go with this system. I am not a "bass guy" but the Surroundbar 50 really needs this to fill in the range and get full natural sound. You get a surround feel but the soundstage is clearly coming from the front with an expanded envelope. After installing, I ran through a variety of listening experiments from Josh Groban to Queen on the musical spectrum, I watched Cramer's mad money (on my Plasma), and Casino Royale (via an Oppo) all pumped through an Onkyo TX-SR606 Home Theater Receiver. Casino Royale sounded fantastic. I have watched this movie at least 5x before and I never heard the dialog so clearly before, the sounds were clearly coming from around the room and the explosions were awesome. I am very pleased with the SurroundBar. It is not a 5.1 or 7.1 system but it meets all of my needs for the room in which it is placed.
