Poorly lit, no timer, nothing but auto settings
Strengths: Size, power, easy to read keypad
Weaknesses: Hard to see inside, LED fogs up, can't key in times (only auto settings), no timer for other kitchen uses
Summary: This is my first microwave purchase and I must say I'm disappointed. While I did get this Emerson microwave on sale at Target, it was still almost $60 and I expected good quality. However, in spite of the unit's large capacity and fairly decent power, its shortcomings are too much to bear. There is no built in kitchen timer as I've had on other microwaves. There is no way to key in a time (say 1:45) because the presets are the only things available. In one instance, the LED display fogged up while I was reheating something and the condensation took several minutes to dissipate - does not bode well for the health of the electronics. And I cannot see inside the microwave AT ALL unless I turn off the light in the kitchen. There is no direct glare, so it's merely a case of a too-dim bulb or too-dark door.
