Strengths: Don't know, it didn't work out of the box
Weaknesses: My second high end JVC VCR that's a disappointment. For this amont of $ it should work out of the box. In this instance the audio failed when a VHS tape was inserted in the deck.
Summary: JVC apologized...said they'd repair it. For replacement was told to return to vendor. Returning it to PC Mall and even bigger nightmare. Pathetic experience between JVC and PC Mall. Still not resolved as of this writing. Do yourself a favor and wait till Pioneer or Toshiba have a product!

Strengths: Great image quality!!!!!
Weaknesses: Made by JVC!!!!!
Summary: I bought this deck because I wanted the BEST image available. The image quality is outstanding BUT I could NOT get the image to properly display the correct aspect ratio on my Toshiba 71" 4:3 HDTV. The ONLY way to get the image at the right aspect ratio was to set the JVC to 480i, which looks WORSE than DVD and Laserdisc!!! If you have a 16x9 HDTV then you probably won't have any problems UNLESS you have to contact JVC. I SWEAR to God that JVC has the WORST customer service reps of any company that I've EVER contacted. NONE, and I mean N-O-N-E, of their MANY reps knew ANYTHING about the HMDH3000U deck. WOW!!!
