Strengths: Uses AA rechargeables, shaves well, wet/dry.
Weaknesses: None.
Summary: For the cheap price of around $24 this razor has been very good. I have used it for several months now and it has taken the place of my other Panasonic Pro-Curve Linear triple blade razor, whose battery is dying after under two years of use. Too bad the batteries on those can not be replaced. But the ones for this razor can! Just put in new recharged AA's each time. Lasts for many shaves. Overall best value wet/dry shaver out there.

Strengths: Waterproof, can use in the shower, compact
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This is a great little chaver that is perfect for traveling. No need to worry about charging or converting electricity because it takes standard AA batteries. Also, this shaver uses the same blades as the Panasonic ES4025SC Sonic-2 Pro-Curve Shaver, which is essentially the same product but contains and internal rechargeable battery instead of taking AAs. I actually originally had that shaver, but when the blades went dull after two years of use, I discoverd it was cheaper to buy this new shaver with blades than to buy only new blades by themselves!!

Strengths: price
Weaknesses: NA
Summary: should say it is a small shaver yet get job done. no problems when use it in showers. enjoying.

it is very smart of the company to use just 2 of 5# batteries instead of some internal rechargeble one, which reduce the price, i guess. Don't know how long the blade can last. wait and see.

Strengths: Close shave. Can use wet or dry. Uses AA batteries, so you don't have to worry about replacing the whole shaver like most electrics that start losing their charging ability. Remarkably low price!
Weaknesses: None, other than it does not have a pop-up trimmer, but I assume that is possibly due to the high drain power on batteries.
Summary: 2005-10-23 17:10:51 I have been a faithful Panasonic electric "wet/dry" shaver user for over 25 years. I started using their shavers when I was a teenager. My skin was very sensitive, so I always suffered from razor burn when using twin-blade razors (ie, Gillette). I also tried various other electric shavers, including Remington & Norelco, but I just never felt I got a close enough shave, not to mention, I did not like splashing those pre-shave lotions on my face. Kind of made my face feel oily.

Most of you are probably too young to remember, but Panasonic introduced the first wet/dry shaver as a single foil shaver named "Mr. Whisk." They showed a picture of the shaver running under water and another with a guy using shaving cream while shaving with Mr. Whisk. That sold me and I have been a loyal Panasonic user ever since. The ability to use shaving cream combined with an electric shaver literally saved my face.

Since then I have graduated to using the more advanced Panasonic models over the years. I currently use a triple-head shaver, model# ES8152 as my main shaver. Needless to say, it works great! It gives an unbelievably close shave. However, for traveling, I prefer NOT to lug around a charger. Thus, this is why I bought the ES4815S. Since it uses AA batteries, I never have to worry about charging. I just keep an extra pair of batteries in my travel bag and I'm set.

I should mention that I am an owner of another Panasonic wet/dry travel shaver, model# ES805S. I actually paid $50.00 for this model at Brookstone a few years ago, and it has not disappointed me. I was actually looking to buy an extra set of blades and foil for my ES805S, when I came across the ES4815S. It uses the exact same blades and foil as my older ES805S. Amazon.com had the ES4815S on sale for $24.99. Buying just the replacement blades and foil cost at least that much, so I bought the new shaver for "spare parts."

However, after the ES4815S arrived, I decided to try it out. It is ergonomically better than the older ES805S, although the ES805S is still very ergonomic. The "curve" makes it a little more maneuverable. The shave is excellent. Don't be fooled by its small size. It has good power and will last for 20+ shaves on just 2 AA alkaline batteries. Although I haven't tried it yet, I assume you will get more shaves with 2400 mAh Ni-Mh rechargeable batteries. That's what else is nice about this shaver. You never have to worry about a power source. You can opt to use rechargeables or alkalines. You won't have to throw away the shaver when the built-in batteries lose their charging ability, as we all know will eventually happen with any rechargeable product. I wish Panasonic would make ALL of their shavers operate with REPLACEABLE batteries as with the ES4815S.

I have read a lot of reviews about Panasonic wet/dry shavers and I am literally astonished whenever I read a negative review. I am assuming that these people use these shavers as a "dry" shaver, and in my opinion, regardless of which brand electric shaver you use, you will generally never get as close a shave as with a blade. Something that people do not think about is when you shave with a blade, you are shaving "wet" (i.e., with shaving cream or gel). Why? Because it reduces friction against your skin. If you did not shave "wet", you would cut up your skin. The principle is no different with an electric shaver. You want to reduce the friction against your face to get a smoother, closer shave. I have shaved "dry" with the ES4815S when I was in a hurry. I was presentable, but I could feel a little stubble. If I had used a pre-shave lotion, my shave would have been closer. But the secret to using the ES4815S, or any other Panasonic Wet/Dry shaver is to shave "wet." Why else buy a shaver that is "wet" capable? It does not make any sense to me. Save yourself some money and buy a "dry" or "rinseable" shaver. If you buy a shaver designated "wet/dry", you are paying extra for that ability. Look this fact up on PriceGrabber.com or Amazon.com. You will notice that Panasonic shavers that are "rinseable" will generally cost less than shavers that are classified "wet/dry". "Rinseable" means exactly that. You can ONLY "rinse" the shaver clean under water. You CANNOT shave in the shower as with a "wet/dry" shaver.

This leads me to the main reason that I am a true and loyal fan of the Panasonic Wet/Dry shavers. I prefer to shave in the shower. The best friction reducer you can use while shaving "wet" is shower/bath gel (NOT shaving cream/gel). I get very smooth/close shaves with shower gel. Also, since I use shower gel, the shaver is being cleaned as I shave! The only warning that I will give when using the ES4815S is to shave daily with it. If you skip a day or 2 of shaving, it takes a little longer to shave. I would recommend a Panasonic triple-head shaver if you skip days of shaving.

The only feature I wish Panasonic would add to this shaver is a pop-up trimmer.

Strengths: Very close shave, compact size, stylish design.
Weaknesses: Not as efficient as some three-head shavers like the ones from Norelco.
Summary:

This is a nice compact shaver that gives very close shaving experience. The carrying case coming with the shaver provides the added convenience for travelers although the shaver itself can be fitted into your pocket easily anyway. The design is stylish and it looks pretty cool. For me, the wet/dry feature is not so important because I only use it while traveling. However, the capability of being able to wash clean has proven to be quite convenient for me. The shaver is battery powered, so it is good for people who often forget to charge their shavers, and you never have to worry about whether it is used in a country with 110V or 220V voltage. The only possible down side of this shaver is that it is not as efficient as some of the three-head shavers like the ones from Norelco. Thus, it may take a little bit longer for each shave. However it could just be my personal feeling. Finally, the price of the shaver is very reasonable if you do a little bit research and buy it from the right store. Considering the price I paid for this shaver and the performance it delivers, I absolutely love it.

Strengths: Compact; Wet/Dry; uses standard AA batteries
Weaknesses: switch lock could have been more prominent
Summary: As far as electric shavers go, this shaver comes closest to what I consider to be just right. It's small, can be used in the shower, and uses standard batteries. When travelling, being able to use standard batteries is a blessing. In some countries you never know when you won't be able to use the electricity outlet because of voltage reasons, plug reasons, or simply because there is no outlet! I use Ni-MH 2300mA batteries and it works great. The only minor quibble is that the 'lock' on the switch is a little small, and maybe too easy to press. Perhaps it could have been more prominent? The reason this is a quibble is because it could be too easy to switch on by accident when placed in baggage. I'll have to remember to leave the batteries out when travelling.

Strengths: Small, Cheap, Works Great, Batteries Last Weeks!
Weaknesses: Still haven't found a shaver that can do my neck!
Summary: I researched plenty before I bought this product. I am very pleased with it. I previously shaved only every second or third day as more frequent shaving left me bumpy and bloody. Now I can shave every day without problems.

You may find the following useful:

1) Its true: It takes a few days for your face to 'adjust' to a new shaver. I don't know why this is true, but it is true.

2) Another reviewer here wrote not to use traditional shaving cream. I found this very helpful. I simply wash my face than apply a coating of a thick HAIR CONDITIONER such as Pantene. It works GREAT!

3) I still use a blade to touch up some hard to reach areas and to do my neck. I have NEVER found an electric shaver that can shave my neck properly. If someone else knows of one, please let us know!!

Strengths: no need to worry about the votaltage , small & light enough for travellers, highest value.
Weaknesses: not so ellegant to give as a gift to your frinds
Summary: when you see the whole lines of review, it will be a no-brainer to buy such a high value shaver, no hassels for its electocity, it uses 2 universal #AA battery, even you are in anywhere in the world , you can get it powered and have it work for you! and because no rechargable system, its price drops to a very reasonable and pleasure level, just 24 bucks, and you can use it for many years, fancy uh~! however, rough wrap make it not good as a gift to your friends, all in all, go and get one if you need!!!

Strengths: Small, portable, can use recharge AA battery, Nice design, good shave wet and dry
Weaknesses: May be too small for some people. No pop-up trimmer
Summary: I was quite surprise on how small it is when I received. The design is nice and functional. It has the look and feel of a good solid shave.

I like the use of AA battery. I put in the NIMH rechargeable battery and it works fine. I would recommend this for travel and may be keep it in the car or work play just in case ...
