Strengths: Blu ray, HDMI 1.3a, discrete nVidia video card, 17" screen
Weaknesses: Wrong processor info displayed under device manager, old video card with only 256 vram, useless extra software.
Summary: I got this on clearance at BB for $1049.99 to replace my 14.1", 750 mghz Pentium II, 512 RAM, WIN 98 laptop. The large screen and the speed difference are worlds apart compared to my old computer. I have no more choppy videos. Internet surfing is faster. Need some time to get used to Vista though. In the end, a good computer with a lot of bang for the buck.

Strengths: BIG beautiful screen, lots of bundled components, good price (on the refurb.)
Weaknesses: Standard battery life sux, extended battery is huge and hot.
Summary: I am coming from a 5 year old Inspiron 500m; good machine, still runs, but a jalopy compared to what you can get now. The Sony is huge and the screen is gorgeous.

Other reviews are right; the touchpad placement, particularly the buttons, is ridiculous. Get an external mouse and disable the touchpad. The USB ports are in funny places; one in back next to the power jack, and two on the side, but both close to the right hand.

You will want to get a 2GB memory module.

Strengths: Everything it comes with.
Weaknesses: The size, I had to really shop around to find a case it will fit in along with it's accessories. I recommend Vanguard Luxor 85C. Bluetooth would have been a plus.
Summary: Overall I would recommend this laptop. I'm not a Vista fan but I'm getting by. I'm very happy with this laptop. The Blu-Ray player is the bomb! There is an icon for Bluetooth but I haven't been successful activating it so I'm assuming it doesn't work.
