Strengths: Sleek styling and extremely comfortable keyboard. It's very fast, yet it doesn't emit much heat anywhere and is also very quiet.
Weaknesses: There is no bluetooth connection.
Summary: I got this laptop for my upcoming years in college. I am very style conscious and this Sony laptop was a good laptop that combined both style and the necessary power for multimedia projects and regular usage. I've had this laptop for about a week now, and I am satisfied every minute I use it.

The Good: This laptop has a 14 inch widescreen that is the right size for portability while maintaining a screen real-estate that allows for flexibility. Its very bright, crisp, and colorful. Blacks are truly black, and whites are pure white. The build quality is great - there is virtually no flex. The keyboard is also one of the most distinctive features of this notebook. With separated keys, the keyboard is comfortable to type on, and is easy to clean. The size is pretty thin for a 14 inch laptop, but it isn't a "thin and light" notebook either. There are plenty of ports - but the only weakness is that it only has ports for memory stick and SD cards. If you have anything else, you're out of luck...

There is also an option to boot up the system in a multimedia mode that allows you to quickly pop in a dvd or a cd without having to load up Windows. Moreover, Windows Vista is not all that bad. Everything has been working fine, and I think it is much easier to use than Windows XP. However, the only bad thing I found about this computer is that it is LOADED with extra programs that you don't need. I had to spend about an hour uninstalling many programs and add-ons that wasted space on my hard-drive.

Through out the duration of my time with this laptop, I found it to be very fast, with no lag time in opening up programs or even using them. Making DVDs and videos were very easy and fast. (The DVD drive is not noisy, but compared to the extreme quietness of this laptop, it's definitely noticeable.)

If you are currently looking at the CR series, please note the the black models is always "unique." The black model will have the extra fingerprint reader and a matte finish on the lid (meaning its not a fingerprint magnet). So for those who can tolerate black or want a professional color - get this laptop - its the same price with extras!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone. It is a good laptop for those who want style and power in one machine. And ironically, Sony has finally made a laptop that's worth its money.
