Strengths: Good price with this great specification. You got everything you can think of on this model.
Weaknesses: Many minor cons, see comments for detail. (There are words limit in this box.)
Summary: 2007-11-15 16:08:05 [Some pros]
+ The specification is one of the best, you can't ask more! And it's priced as Laptop instead of Tablet!
+ I really like the design of touchpad, it touches so great!
+ One feature HP didn't mention, the DVD drive is removable.
+ There is a quick button beside the touchpad to disable it.
[Biggest Problem I have for this tablet]
- Comes with Vista. HP doesn't provide all drivers for XP. It is a long and tough road to make everything right. I spent one week on web to find all solutions and switched to XP.
[Some minor cons]
- Fan runs loud when CPU runs over 30% usage.
- Battery can't hold long, recharging is slow.
- Touch screen could be quite reflective.
- Too many buttons beside the touch screen, plus the fingerprint reader, it's easy to accidentally press the button of activate the fingerprint reader while holding the tablet or writing on the touchscreen.
- There are 18 lights on the body, what a waste of power!
- Sometimes webcam just disappeared, have to reboot to get it back. Not sure what problem that is.
- AMD instead of Intel. Not sure about the difference, but based on the price, Intel should be better than AMD.
- The material of the body doesn't touch as good as it looks.
- Hard to find a bag designed for 12.1 widescreen.

Strengths: This model has many features. Small size, lightweight. Touch screen.
Weaknesses: Too much bloatware. Screen is not real bright. Battery life is short. Battery extends past edge of case.
Summary: I've spent hours trying to get the programs that HP has installed removed from the computer. It doesn't come with discs that let you do a clean install of Vista, instead you are able to make restore discs that put the computer back to how it was when first purchased.
It has many features, such as a touch screen that swivels and lays flat on the keyboard, a stylus to write on the screen, a fingerprint reader, bluetooth, wireless a,b,g,n, 2 gb memory (upgradable to 4gb), large hard drive, removable dvd burner w/lightscribe, IR remote that stores in the express card slot, memory card reader (SD, SDHC, Memory stick), 3 USB ports, S-Video out, webcam, mics, dual headphone jacks, SPD-IF output jack, a button to disable the touchpad, a decent sized keyboard.
I mainly bought this to use when travelling but the battery life is quite short, I don't know if there is enough to make it through an entire movie. It takes hours to recharge the battery. I use it in my car with a gps and having the screen lay flat works real well. You can change the screen orientation at the touch of a button. It has quickplay, but it first starts up Vista before playing a disc.
It is the closest thing I have found to meet the wants that I have in a notebook computer and I am satisfied with my purchase.

Strengths: Lots of features, very good looking and nice screen.
Weaknesses: Lots of installed software that is useless. Little bit heavier than I like.
Summary: With touch-screen capability, finger printer scanner, webcam, bluetooth on top of wifi, 2gb RAM, large hard drive and powerful CPU, this machine is really great for everyday use. I love to use it to watch DVD on plane since the screen can rotate which let me open up the screen better even the seat in front lean back a lot. The tablet is a bit heavier than I would like since it has touch screen rather than normal screen and HP includes a lot of extra "promotional" software that is really useless to a lot of us. All in all, a good buy.

It works (with much effort), but would not purchase again
Strengths: 60W Power Supply, can be used on airplane seats provided with outlets
USB2.0/FW/Card Reader (but not CF unfortunately)
DVD-RW with Lightscribe
Large HDD
Weaknesses: Battery: 1 Hour at best
Monitor Calibration
Fingerprint software
Windows Vista
Weight
Lots of junk software pre-installed
Rebate
Customer Service: Unable to get hold of
Summary: 2008-01-05 17:28:18 I was about to leave for a photo trip to Peru and Italy and needed a light laptop to replace my 3.5 years old and heavy eMachines (which still works fine) powered with a 90W PSU.
The major requirement was a laptop that used no more than 65W so that I could plug it into the airplane seat and use it all the time during the flight, the Pavilion tx1320us (which was released the day before I purchased it)offered a 60W PSU and much more and I got soon excited by its specs. It came with Vista, I didn't want it after reading so many problems related to Microsoft's new OS but I had no choice and with the OS pre-installed I hoped that problems would not be part of my experience. Opening the box I found a 6-cell battery, great, even better than the standard 4-cell, although it sticks out, I thought, must last at least 4 hours. WRONG! With DVD use the battery here lasts a mere 45 minutes! and about one hour without DVD use. This is unacceptable since most modern laptops run on batteries between 5-10 hours (especially tablets). A laptop with an hour battery life has little use, but I was leaving for my trip and was glad to be able to at least use it during long airplane flights.
Problems started quickly, Vista was very sluggish even if I had not installed much software and removed much of the useless pre-installed junk. At the airport, Presiden't Club, took 10 minutes to connect to the wireless network, well... it actually connected right away as local network but only after about ten minutes it would find the internet (happened the same on dial-up). The monitor requires constant calibration and the upper area (about 4mm) is not usable. If switching from laptop to tablet mode and vice versa it requires another calibration. The screen is not very sensitive either, I was looking forward to be able to handwrite my travel essays but unfortunately I cannot since the tablet is so slow that it doesn't follow my handwriting. What's there for then?
In tablet mode the fan is on the bottom side and gets in the way, the computer gets hot quickly because you're obstructing it unintentionally.
The fingerprint reader is also in the way and as you use the computer in tablet mode the fingerprint software kicks in because you accidentally touched the reader.
It's heavy, for a tablet 4 pounds is a lot. It seemed better at first after being used to my eMachines' 8+ lbs. but try carrying the tablet and other stuff on a hike to Machu Picchu and you get the idea. Gateway's and other brands, more expensive sure, but they probably work, have tablets that weigh between 2 and 3 lbs.
The loss of performance is incredible with battery use, I was never able to watch an AVI file (Divx, Xvid) because the sound would get out of sync immediately and would get worse every second. Overall it's a very slow machine, regardless the 2GB of RAM and 2X CPU. I'm sure Vista is responsible for most of it, but somehow I have to think HP has used low quality components. Vista problems never ended, I already re-installed the OS twice, at a point it wouldn't even let me install the driver for the Zune (and it's a Microsoft product, one of the few I love) whereas with my other 3 XP computers I had no problems.
The screen is too reflective, even on the plane I could not see much if someone opened their window shade. It cannot be used outside, plain and simple.
The speakers are great, very nice quality, but the microphones are not, I have not been able to make a successful VoIP call because the volume is too low in the capture, I had to speak right into one of them (there are 2, on each side of the webcam, this one is very low quality).
The computer has a lot of blue leds which light up as a Christmas tree, I kinda like that.
I was supposed to get a $50 rebate, but website tracking says it was sent, I didn't get it and I can't find any way to contact Customer Service. Also tried to contact Customer Service about battery life and replacing Vista with XP Tablet Edition and they won't reply to my emails.
Final Note: This was supposed to become my main computer, unfortunately because of so many problems is sitting on the desk shut off until my next trip, I'll pretty much use it only to write essays, too slow to do anything useful (I'm a photographer and Photoshop/Lightroom are my main programs).

Strengths: Compact size,
Nice touchpad,
Touchscreen,
Convertible to tablet,
Lightscribe,
250 gig HD,
Fingerprint scanner
Weaknesses: Touchscreen not sensitive enough,
Haven't been able to get the fingerprint scanner to work right
Summary: I bought this, thinking I'd mount it at my side in my truck. I use my company's website to find loads. I can do this on my smart phone, but thought it would be better if I had my laptop securely mounted next to me and always connected with my Verizon wireless modem. I thought this model, with the tablet pc profile, the touchscreen, and the fingerprint reader would be exactly what I needed. As it turns out, I haven't mounted it next to me yet (after owning it for over 4 months).
I don't know if there is a way to adjust the sensitivity of the touchscreen (probably is), but it really requires the use of a stylus (one is included) or something similar. I thought I could use my finger, but it requires a more focused, harder tap than you get with your fingertip. Again, this may be adjustable.
I can't get the fingerprint reader set up, maybe it's just me, or maybe I got a bad one. I just can't seem to swipe my finger across it consistently enough for it to accept it. Or when I have gotten it to accept it, then it never recognizes it when I try to use it to login. That has been somewhat of a disappointment, especially since that is one of the things that drew me to this model.
I wanted Lightscribe, couldn't wait to get it, and have yet to use it.
I like the smaller size, I can't imagine lugging a 17" screen laptop around. I know they are lighter than some laptops I've had in the past with screens smaller than 17", but they are still larger and heavier than I want now. I saw an HP laptop with a 20+" screen the other day at a store that was closing... That is ridiculous! I am getting ready to sell my desktop, and make this laptop my only computer. It will be hooked to HP's expansion base (forget what they call it exactly) at home, with my 22" HP monitor hooked to that. I do like large displays, just not on my laptop PC that I have to carry around.
Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. While the touchscreen and the fingerprint reader may have not been what I was expecting, the large hard drive and smaller form factor are exactly what I wanted.

Strengths: $, tablet, Vist premium
Weaknesses: Battery time, screen resolution
Summary: 2008-04-18 01:59:16 If you need a tablet but know that you shall not avidly use this feature, this one is for you.
Its impressive for its ability to fold up and be able to be read like a book, but doesn't have the touch screen sensitivity needed. I couldn't calibrate it well enough and many times have to click more than couple of times as it is off target.
Battery life is poor but not way below others.
Weight and size are positive features and can be moved around well.
Remote control is good, esp if U plan to plug it to larger screen (LCD etc)
Webcam, bluetooth are positive features.
Actually bought 2 , one for my dad and then ended up for myself too. I wanted a 12 inch laptop and i have treated the 'tablet' part as bonus not the prime reason for selection. As I said before, if thats the primary reason for buying, get something better at more $.
Recommend for a budget tablet buyer.

Strengths: The size, the processor is good, you get a dual core amd tl-60
which is powerful enough to sustain lot of torture from game or other applications. This is an amd base so you can over clock it easily.
Weaknesses: Battery life,if only the processor could be a quadcore intel processor this would be a perfect computer,The touch screen is too slow and the key board is not that quiet.
Summary: 2008-03-15 23:21:42 I will recommend this computer to anyone-it is reliable even though vista require lot of resources.this computer can support up to 4 gb.This computer is good and affordable. You can get this computer for 2 installed and upgrade this at full 4 which I will recommend for multitasking.
