Strengths: Light-weight, bright screen, sleek, good battery life, lightweight charger, 14.1" screen is ideal, 1.3 MP webcam, fingerprint reader.
Weaknesses: No Recovery CD, comes only with Windows Vista (pretty slow) and not XP, bloatware from Sony (60 day trials) which slows laptop down, not best for high end games, speaker volume at max is not loud.
Summary: The laptop is a SONY VAIO so obviously looks wise it is great. Very Sleek, black finish with a nice 14" bright screen. Easy to carry around.
Pros:
1. The keys have space in between them, which will make it easier to clean.
2. The touchpad movement is smooth and mouse control is awesome.
3. The webcam works great and the resolution is great
4. The battery life is around 3- 3 1/2 hours
5. The base doesn't heat much
6. The laptop is very quiet and fan maintains its speed so you are not irritated by its continuous on-off
7. The screen is bright, sharp and colors are awesome to look at.
8. The fingerprint reader is a nice addition to the laptops security and access.
Cons:
1.The right-left mouse keys are a bit hard to click and make noise.
2. The laptop was slower than I expected for a high end Dual 2 core with 2 GB of memory on it. I guess it is the Windows Vista which eats up a lot of resources to make it slow.
3. The package did not come with a Recovery CD or user manual. SONY tech support pointed me to a website to show me how to create a Recovery CD and how to download a user manual.
4. While the laptop comes with prepackaged software, It took a longtime to bring up the laptop for the first time and after some updates.
5. A bunch of trial software (60 day trials) which actually slows down the laptop.
Weighing the pros and cons, I think this is still a laptop worth the buy. I just wish Sony could give XP option for people like me who do not like Vista at all..
