2 Star ReviewGood Hardware but Horrid Software and documentation
Strengths: Great Hardware, Good Clarity, ease of Installation (both card and IR)
Weaknesses: Absolutely despicable documentation that I can only surmise was written in 1982 and NEVER updated, even by monkeys PVR Software included also hasn't been updated since 2000 it seems.
Summary: Okay, I received this as a present and it is a really good card and does its job fantastically to view tv and use its accompanying remote. HOWEVER...

- The Docmumentation looks like it was written in the early 80's and never updated.

- The PVR Software is very finicky about encoding and will not allow you to encode with DIVX properly from the getgo, preferring to use its own 5.0 codecs.

- The Record function frequently switched audio sources to MICROPHONE instead of line in, Causing you to get crystal video and echoey sound, if any sound at all from a nearby headset or mic you may have plugged in.

-Titan TV recorder deal is VERY good stuff, and no complaints there, its one of the great things about this gift.

- Has no pause live video feature (It works but you have to install additional software it doesn't seem to come with).

All in all, Great hardware, severely unstable recording software without much choices on the record features and really needs an entire overhaul.. AND NOT JUST ON THE FRONT END GUI's HAUPPAGE!!!! That software needs to be completely rewritten to be codec friendly and stable.

Strengths: It's good and cheap.
Weaknesses: I want to have a remote.
Summary: It is easy to use and has high quality pictures. It works on nearly every kind of systems. You can use your keyboard to control the channels and voice. It is not expensive for its functions.

Strengths: My picture is great. The Picture quality is Great. The Ability to pause and record live TV is awsome. No problems installing either. Space Saving!
Weaknesses: None That I have experienced
Summary: My picture is great. I noticed the ability to adjust the picture quality ... but mine worked great out of the box.

I like having a TiVO like recording & playback capabilities for very little money . And it is great not to have the clutter of a TV and a PC in the same room! Also Great for Dorms!

Strengths: Lots of features
Weaknesses: Remote could be better
Summary: Hauppauge has been known to make good tv tuner products and this is no exception. Hauppauge claims that

"WinTV processes the video without requiring help from your PC's CPU, so your computer continues to run at full speed while WinTV is operating."

When I tried to multitask my applications with viewing tv, I did not notice any performance difference for those applications. Hence, I would have to agree with that claim.

All in all, a good buy.

3 Star ReviewNot bad for the price
Strengths: Easy to install, great tech support
Weaknesses: Not the best picture, remote wouldn't work.
Summary: I have not had time to mess with this very much, but so far it does what I want it to. Initially, I had problems with the WinTv remote/sensor. I had to have a new one sent to me, but the tech support people were super nice. It was very easy to get the problem taken care of.

My husband does not like to watch sports on it because the quick moving players have streaks behind them. The picture is not very clear, and I know it's not my monitor because we watch DVD's on it all the time and they have great picture.

We have Directv and their remote will not work with the WinTv. I have to control the power and volume with the WinTv remote and the channels with Directv remote.

All things considered, it's works well for the price. After rebates, it will only cost me about $5, so I cannot complain.

3 Star ReviewWINTV-GO-PLUS W/REMOTE
Strengths: Easy to install. Hauppauge quality.
Weaknesses: Scheduling a recording could be improved by allowing for smaller minute increments.
Summary: I'm not one for reading documentation and this tuner is easy to install and operate without doing so.

The clarity of the picture depends on your reception. It serves my purpose well - which is to have certain shows I want to watch available on my PC while I multitask.

A very good value for the price.

3 Star ReviewIt works for what it does
Strengths: Video quality not bad for a cheapy analog tuner, price is good, setup is quick, and is compatible on Vista.
Weaknesses: Can't get it to use a signal from coaxial from my cable box, which is in it's supported list. That is ridiculous. Have to run it through composite video.
Summary: No coaxial usage makes it useless with an antenna, but using composite gives great video quality, so it's a trade-off. Oh, and about the specs stating that it supports 1600x1200 resolution... sure, it can take still pics that big, but as for video, it ain't happening. Above 640x480, it gets pixelated. Not so bad if you're sitting far away, but if you're in front of the screen, like you normally are when computing and gaming, you will notice the pixelation pretty bad above 640x480. Also, don't expect a widescreen show to conform to your widescreen LCD... this isn't HDTV, so no native widescreen.

Now, let me get back to Deadliest Catch... they're catchin' Opies like crazy!

2 Star ReviewYou get what you pay for...
Strengths: CHEAP product. And yes, it does work:-) But don't ask me how good.
Weaknesses: Picture quality is not good at all. Takes a lot of processor cycle, but result is barely watchable.
Summary: I guess I wanted to save some money and bought this card as it was on special. What a waste of money. Primarily I wanted to use it with orb. I got it to work for remote viewing as well. But I was not satisfied with the quality (no, its not bandwidth issue).

Then I thought I would use it as a capture card. That was perhaps too much to ask. Software simply crashes after recording only some frames.

Will never buy from this manufacturer again.

Ended up buying the Slingbox for remote viewing.

Strengths: A good PCI TV tuner, easy to install and use, CPU usage is low. Channel change is quick. You can watch TV on PC through resizable window.
Weaknesses: Manual is too simple, does not describe the item too clearly. The wintv2000 software is not so convenient to use, for example, you can not set it to full screen by double click the window by mouse.
Summary: It is a decent TV tuner for this price. The picture quality is good. Hauppauge is a well know TV tuner manufacture. This TV tuner card can be identified by most of the TV software, for example dscaler and K!TV. By dscaler, you can get subtitle from the program.

After all, it is a great hardware to watch and record TV program on you PC.
