Summary: Needed a new brewer because cupcake kept complaining after our Krups was repaired, the coffee it produced wasn't as hot as she liked it any more. Bought THIS coffeemaker because Consumer Reports and another distinguished (read "coffee snob") magazine absolutely fawned over it. The only reason CR didn't have it as #1 was because of the cost, and we know they're all about value. But CR aren't exactly coffee snobs, are they? Well, neither am I, but I KNOW if you brew coffee with very hot water, you get more flavor out of the beans. This machine makes great tasting, HOT coffee in a very short period of time. It also has a charcoal water filter that is monitored as to how many pots you brew before it needs changing. Bottom line, the Capresso MT500 looks a little pricy, but the reason it is is because of the water heating parts: they are stainless steel, NOT aluminum, that we hear is so bad for us to use as cookware. If you purchase the MT500, you won't be disappointed! I've just made the jump from a Krups enthusiast, to all things Capresso! 100% of People (3/3) found this review helpful. Weaknesses: The clock doesn't keep accurate time. Summary: The clock on ours loses one to seven minutes per day. Otherwise, this coffee maker performs well and looks nice.
