Strengths: Sound is much improved over 2G with extended highs and lows. The sound is more 3D than previous players. Screen bright and clear and works well with full screen movies and podcasts.
Weaknesses: Widescreen movies detailed, but small.
Summary: 2007-09-30 14:21:57 Purchased as a gift for my wife, but I use it when she is asleep because of the addicting sound of this iPod. It holds a surprising amount. There are two full length movies 170 pictures, 70 podcasts, and over 5 gb of music. For less than $200 you cant go wrong, and the size is perfect for workouts.

Strengths: small, portable, great screen, great sound. can hold videos, podcasts, pictures, songs, mp3s and itunes is very easy to use.
Weaknesses: if this is your main mp3 player, 8 gb may not meet your needs.
Summary: This is my second Ipod. My first one holds 40 gb and holds my whole music collection. This one was bought because i needed a new one that my radio would plug up into in the car. This is a great ipod. Very small and does quite a bit. Nice color. Nice screen. Easy to use. I HIGHLY recommend this as a first or second ipod. Everyone should get this and at under 200 bucks, a steal!

Strengths: small, bright screen, pictures, movies, more music, games
Weaknesses: scratches easily, scroll is hard to keep finger on
Summary: I bought this for my father for Christmas. I am also looking into one. My dog got a hold of my second generation nano so I've been really eager to get a new one. At first he seemed reluctant to use it but when I started to teach him, he really got into it. I love the way it has a brighter screen, which would really come in handy for watching movies. The only dowsides to it is that it scratches really easily and he found it hard to keep his finger on the scroll because of its small size. I would definately buy this for myself, if I can rack up enough for one. They are most definately on the expensive side, but I think it is worth the money.

Strengths: It's an ipod!
Weaknesses: Itunes, accessories too expansive
Summary: I love the blue color and I think the 3rd generation has a more appealing appearance than the original Nano. It can also play video, very nice feature. 8GB can hold thousands of songs. I don't know if it is me but I do find the sound quality is also better than the 2nd generation Nano. One thing I don't like about ipod is the software. Itunes is slow. Moreover, it only offers synchronization so you can't add or delete songs directly on ipod. I found a alternative free software to replace itunes. It's called Winamp and it's free. It's a much smaller software, easy to use with powerful features. As usual, accessories are expensive, like speakers, fm tuner, and case etc.

I really like it. Recommended!

Strengths: Design, UI
Weaknesses: None so far
Summary: The iPod Nano 3rd Generation 8GB Blue is great for kids. I bought this for my friend's son, and he loves it.

As usual, the design and finish is extremely refined (although made in China). The click wheel UI is refined and very user friendly. The sound is good too (according to the boy).

Strengths: Nice and Clean Look, Perfect Size, Good Size Storage
Weaknesses: No radio, No Wall Charger included, Quick Use Manual should come with it
Summary: This is my first IPod. It is cool little music player that amazes me how versatile it is. It is easy to use once you are familiar with it. For first time buyer like me, you might find hard time to learn how to use it. I had hard time trying to figure out how to download music. I had to go to Apple web site to download manual which I think it should come with it at least Quick Use Manual. Overall it is worth the money. A lot of accessories to choose from.

Strengths: Practical size memory Looks Good Sounds good
Weaknesses: Not compatible with OS 10.3
Summary: Great new design lets you get the video & a decent size song library in a smaller, in-budget ipod that comes in a great selection of color. Music sounds just as good on my Ipod video. Only complaint -not compatible with the OS 10.3 on my mac. Had I not been upgrading my mac, I'd be frustrated at the prospect of having to upgrade my OS just to use it.

Strengths: Size, easy interface to Itunes.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Summary: My daughter wanted and iPod for Christmas and was looking at non-Apple brand units. Since we already used iTunes for music purchases it seemed to make the most sense to go with an Apple product. Its a very small unit (any smaller and it really would be too small), works great and easily interfaces with iTunes for music and other content syncing. Video screen actually isn't too bad for watching video play back. A bit more dollars than other brand MP3 players, but well made and I'm happy with the choice. Lots of accessories available as well.

Strengths: Size, Video
Weaknesses: USB only charger
Summary: I bought this for the GF, but use it every once in a while myself. The 8GB flash memory has been very handy and quickly accessible. The screen even though small... is ver bright and provides good resolution. She was very excited to get this, as its almost become a fashion accessory as well. Its been a solid performer so far, and we are happy with it.

Strengths: It holds a lot of music for such a small ipod! Although the screen is small, the picture is very nice and detailed. The battery also lasts for a long time- perfect for long car rides.
Weaknesses: It only holds about five hours of video- I wish it held more.
Summary: This is a great MP3 player. I bought it for my daughter, and she loves it. It's great for the bus and long car rides. It's a good deal for the money.

Strengths: holds a lot of songs
Weaknesses: doesn't come with a plug in charger
Summary: This Ipod is great! It holds all my favorite songs and plays great. I like the fact that I could get it engraved with my name at no additional cost also. Now it won't get mixed up with somebody else's.

Strengths: User Interface and ergonomics are awesome
Weaknesses: no FM radio
Summary: New Nano is very cute, I like it better than previous generation, although some people like thinner models better. But this one has video. 2" screen with 320x240 resolution. Still pricey comparing with other manufacturerers Gb per dollar ratio. No option to convert higher encoded songs to 128AAC format as in Shuffle. I ditched earbud headphones, though, for something else

Strengths: Size, design, style, capacity, supports video, flash based, sound quality
Weaknesses: Scratches easily, TV out limitations, relatively expensive
Summary: Bought this as a gift for my wife. Like most of the Apple products, it is cool – compact and thin, but sporting a larger screen than previous generations of Nanos, and touted as a “video” device. The screen is bright and works well with full screen movies. The 8GB capacity is implemented with flash as opposed to a hard drive, which seems to do a better job of functioning under stressful conditions (ie, jogging) without skipping. The 8GB capacity is sufficient for approx 2000 songs, or several movies. It sounds great – better than the previous generation Nanos IMO.

On the downside, it is rather expensive as compared to its peers. At $200 list, you are definitely paying a premium for the Apple name. Shop around and/or use coupons and it is reasonable to expect to get it for 10-20% cheaper – still pretty expensive IMO. It scratches easily and one would be wise to invest in a cover right away. The TV out will only work with an Apple cable, which was a surprise and a big disappointment to us. So if you are planning on showing your pics on your TV, plan on spending an extra $50 for the right equipment to support this. Widescreen movies are somewhat hard to see with this screen.

All in all, we are happy with this purchase. I would recommend it but would suggest that it can be had for 10-20% cheaper than its list price if you shop around a little and are careful with your purchase.
