Strengths: Close cut for someone with sensitive skin.
Slides around great on skin with shaving cream.
Weaknesses: Some parts of my neck seem to cause problems.
Cleaning cycle left water in the reservoir.
Summary: 2008-08-22 19:27:42 *Update*
My skin has now gotten used to it after several weeks and I have refined my technique, and I can get a great shave. I still have to use shaving cream though.
*End Update*
I have sensitive skin, and have been looking into getting a good electric razor, because shaving with a blade against the grain causes my neck to bleed in multiple places.
It takes a little longer than a blade to get the same results, but I'm hoping that once I get the technique down, I can speed things up. I can shave my neck and get great results without bleeding or even irritation. This is great because I'm in the Marine Corps and having a poor shave is not acceptable during inspections.
One thing I have had a little trouble with is near my Adam's apple. My hair grows sideways toward it on either side. It takes a great deal of effort to get all the hairs...these seem to be very elusive.
One thing that's great about it is the capability to shave wet as well as dry. It glides around your fact fantastically with shaving cream, although part of the reason I switched to electric is so that I wouldn't have to bother with lathering up my face anymore!
The cleaning cycle, which contains a "drying" period, left a puddle of water in the reservoir. When I took it out to shave, I was a little disappointed when water started splashing out of it.
Overall I like the shaver. It is a great alternative to slicing up my neck with a Gillette Fusion.
