Strengths: Unbelievable picture quality, especially with hi-def/1080p sources. 120hz display, plenty of tweakable picture settings. Lots of inputs - 2 component, 3 HDMI, and 1 PC/VGA input.
Weaknesses: Remote doesn't light up. Almost too many picture settings/options in the menus, can be overwhelming - but in a good way.
Summary: I couldn't be happier with this purchase. An unbelievable value in terms of the size and quality of picture you get for your money. My only regret is perhaps not getting the 60 inch after seeing how phenominal the picture is on the 55 inch - I want to see more of it! Would definitely recommend this set to anyone who doesn't feel the need to hang their TV on the wall, and can live with a rear-projection set.

Strengths: Huge screen, 1080p picture is unbelievable to watch. Lots of inputs for your HDMI devices, 3 total!
Weaknesses: Can be difficult getting the picture just right with so many settings. Fan can run a little loud. Remote does not light up. Sound is weak.
Summary: I am very pleased with my purchase. I use this TV mainly for HD DVDs and Xbox 360 games. The clarity is unmatched. For the money, nothing beats this TV.

Strengths: Outstanding 1080p picture quality, 3 HDMI v.1.3 inputs, screen size for the price
Weaknesses: Input jack panel placement
Summary: WOW! What a great TV! If you are shopping for a high quality television w/ 1080p in the sub $2500.00 range then this is the one. I initially wanted an LCD flat panel. Some of the newer model flat panels look amazing. However, they were just too pricey and out of my budget range. I am a previous DLP 720p owner so I have some background w/ HD. My research led to this Sony LCD projection TV. I found that many review websites rated it the top or near the best Projection TV. One well known, reputable website had it rated the second best TV of 2007 of all makes and models to include Plasmas, DLP's, and LCD's. I have owned this TV for about a week now. It has been flawless in all formats of viewing. Colors are true, vivid, and bright. I personally had no problems w/ the Sony cross bar picture setting options. While abundant, I found them to be easy to navigate through. My only complaint is that the "jack panel" is located on an angle on the left rear. So, when the TV is back against a wall the cables are visible when looking from the side. This location does, however, allow you to get the TV back further against the wall giving you a somewhat "flat panel" look. In summary, The SXRD-based Sony KDS-55A3000 exhibited excellent color accuracy and stellar performance. Pricegrabber delivers the best price once again and I would definitely reccommend this model to anyone who wants to have a great HD experience in their home theater.

Strengths: Big Screen and SUPPERIOR picture quality for Low $$
Weaknesses: Fragile, has a bulb, hard to find.
Summary: Let me first start off with how fragile this set is. With it being a rear projection TV it contains mirrors that display the picture onto the screen. When moving this item care must be given to keep the unit level and not to introduce much force onto the TV (bumping it etc). My TV has some alignment issues with the picture to which I attribute to transport, Sony has been great and a TECH will be out in less then a week. As for what I have seen so far with this TV even with some alignment issues is that it is one beautiful TV. With a standard DVD you would think this TV would look like crap, but with the internal processor bringing the inputs up to 1080p no matter what it makes allmost everything look great. Standard Definition TV is the only exception, but with this screen size that is to be expected; overall I would have to say it is just an acceptable picture. Now here is where this TV shines, HD-TV. All I can say is WOW. I am a big fan of the old CRT/Tube style televisions due to there ability to display blacks, and this TV does it just as well. The colors are accurate on this TV, don't expect to be BLOWN away with the color because this TV was designed to be accurate and not to give you retina burning images. If you are wondering what I mean by accurate, I mean when you watch a football game on TV the color of the uniform is the SAME exact color as you would see if you were AT the football game. Enough about the color, the other thing that this TV does well in HD is not showing the blockyness other displays show. I have watched a 2nd series DLP 60" TV before and was turned off how any non 1080p source had serious issues with showing blocks instead of smoothing them out. This TV will smooth out these blocks so less then perfect sources are very good looking. So thats it, if you want a big TV with very ACCURATE color and picture reproduction this is your TV....... That is unless you want to hang this on the wall!

Strengths: absolutely great picture
Weaknesses: would have liked an hdmi input in the front to connect a camera
Summary: We bought the Sony "hybrid" projection screen because it has the best picture and will last the longest. LCD and Plasma's have a "life" of 2 to 3 years, this should last as long as we can replace the bulb- which should last at least 2 to 3 years or more.
All in all this is a great tv with 3 hdmi inputs

Strengths: Low price, 120Hz, 1080P, large screen, picture as good as any, and better than most 1080P TV's on the market.
Weaknesses: Speakers are a bit weak, Has bulb that will eventually need replacement.
Summary: This is, by far, the best TV I have ever owned, or watched. You cannot beat the value (bought for $1200 from Sears) delivered by the KDS-55A3000.

Strengths: Great picture, great price, plenty of inputs, sound pretty decent
Weaknesses: Hard to get picture "just right", eventual lamp burnout with rear projection, potential support issue with model being out of production
Summary: I am _extremely_ pleased with this TV, particularly considering it was (and probably still is) available at steeply discounted prices because it's being discontinued by Sony. The picture is absolutely top notch, although it takes a lot of fiddling and adjusting to find the best settings based on the input type as well as the room environment. The sheer number of settings that can be manipulated is a little overwhelming at first. I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the built-in speakers. My TV is hooked up to my home theater, anyway, but when I had the sound coming from the TV itself, I thought it sounded pretty decent -- much better than I had expected. If there are downsides to this TV, they'd be that (a) the lamp will eventually need to be replaced at a cost of a couple hundred dollars or more and (b) this model is being phased out by Sony, so the availability of parts (like the aforementioned lamp) could be an issue. I bought a couple of spares upfront, so I don't see that being an issue for me. All things considered, I think this TV, particularly at the prices at which it's available now, is simply outstanding. If you don't need an ultra-thin LCD or plasma that you can juggle with one hand or mount on your wall, I can't see why you wouldn't save a significant amount of money and buy this TV.
