Strengths: Sounds great.
Weaknesses: Confusing menu and remote. No code for the comcast remote. No low volume.
Summary: This is a great 2.1 system with DVD (1080i) and XM radio (plus the usual stuff - AM/FM, CD). The sound is great but the is no real EQ (you can allow increase or decrease the sounds of the individual speaker, including the sub. There is no real low volume - it's either mute or on. The menu and remote have a learning curve and there is no code for it for the Comcast remote.

Strengths: Size and clarity of sound
Weaknesses: Can not be turned up exceedingly loud.
Summary: At moderate levels this thing sounds great. I am a bit of a techno geek and having my friend not know how to use the machine, give me an unusual sense of pleasure. The sound is very clean but the sub woofer make a bad feed back sound when the sound is turned up more than half way.

2 Star ReviewLFD 790 - Not for Hi-Fi Neophyte
Strengths: Design, sound, size
Weaknesses: Ease of switch from TV, to DVD to Stereo
Summary: I purchased this item last February and have yet to be able to watch anything but TV or listen to radio. Not being very technical, I paid to the GEEK Squad do the installation, while they managed to hook everything up - including connection to Comcast Cable - and had all up and running and gave me the lowdown on it's operation. Well all it took was one attempt at watching a DVD and I had to call in the Squad again ! They got me up and running once again. However, I have yet to be able to listen to anything but static on the radio. And tonight in an attempt to watch a DVD - I got the DVD sound but could not get the menu on TV screen to select menu options.

My feeling is that this piece of equipment lacks in ease of use - one should be able to point and press a remote - PRESTO whatever you want to do takes place. Not so w/ my set-up. Needless to say I am ready to toss this out the window and get something I can handle with much less frustration. I'm sure its a nice piece of equipment but for my purposes I found it less than user friendly - and a complete waste since I have not been able to use any of it's other features.

I might add that with this last incident -where I somehow did something to the remote which disable the TV sound from the LG - I contacted the Support Line. The first tech told me I needed to send the TV in for service. "Let me make this clear - 1 hour ago everything was working, now after attempting to watch DVD, I get no sound from the LG, how is that a problem w/ the TV?" You need to send LG in for service - ditto my response. I called again tonight and tried to explain to the tech I did something to the remote, now I can hear the DVD, but does not appear on TV, nor when I push MENU/HOME/DISPLAY does the menu appear on the TV. His response - you need to check your connections- Again, It was working yesterday until I tried to watch a DVD - I did something to the remote please help me get the sound for the TV again. Techs response was to contact the cable company to have them redo the remote and I needed to call the Samsung - TV. That's when I decided the best option would be to toss the equipment out of the window (not really I will give/donate)
