Strengths: No monthly fee online game play, finally finds out what happened to Gwen.
Weaknesses: True expansion pack, requires high level character to do the missions. High price for an expansion.
Summary: Eye of the North is a good expansion to the Guild Wars series, it is the first game that requires one of the original campaigns(Prophecies, Faction, Nightfall). Offers more contents and missions but your character needs to be level 20 or the missions are incredibly hard. The story offers the new classes that will be appearing in Guild Wars 2. Worth getting if you are a fan of Guild wars.

Strengths: Still no online charges; adds many, many hours of content; replayable; price has dropped
Weaknesses: Aimed mostly at highest level players; promotes grinding; can get very difficult for solo players
Summary: This is the first ever expansion pack for the Guild Wars series and therefore requires a previous purchase of one of the three full Guild Wars games. It continues the storyline from the "Guild Wars: Prophecies" game, a.k.a. "Guild Wars" since it was the first game released in the series. That's the one (and only) Guild Wars game I had when I bought this expansion. I first bought Guild Wars looking for a good alternative online world versus the unattractive world of Runescape and the expensive world of World of Warcraft. Guild Wars pretty much fit the bill with graphics that are very nice for these types of online world games and without the mounting costs of monthly subscription fees. This expansion continues those traditions of great visuals and low cost and adds some new skills to the gameplay, new quests and dungeons, new heroes and henchmen, three new minigames, new items such as armors, the Hall of Monuments. Ideally, you should be at level 20 from one of the full Guild Wars games before starting the expansion. It took me a while to get to that point, so, even though I bought the expansion, I didn't actually get into it until a while later. Since Guild Wars characters max out at level 20, this expansion looks to keep people playing the game well beyond reaching level 20. The Hall of Monuments is a perfect example of this sort of enticement. Its main purpose is to recognize in-game achievements by players, with these achievements usually involving a lot of grind work and hours played. The quests themselves are replayable and some are very, very long. They are also very often quite challenging, especially for players who prefer to go them solo (teaming with CPU rather than other live players). To get through some parts, you pretty much have to team with at least one or more live players, which I guess is to encourage more socializing in the Guild Wars world and try to ensnare people into sticking with Guild Wars that way, even after attaining level 20. All in all, this expansion is pretty good at what I think it sets out to do. The storyline continues to be interesting, and the game continues to be fun. Seeing as how it has dropped in price to sub-$20 just about everywhere, I would definitely recommend this expansion to anyone looking to stretch out their Guild Wars experience until Guild Wars 2 is finally released.

Strengths: challenging new quests for higher level players
Weaknesses: expensive at launch (more reasonable now)
Summary: Guild Wars: Eye of the North is the first "traditional" expansion for Guild Wars. All the previous games (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall) could be standalone games. But Eye of the North (EotN) required at least one of the main games. This expansion gives more quests for the advanced player (level 20 characters) and as such the quests and areas are more difficult. You alse get more heroes to choose from and more skills, armor.
Also, this expansion will allow for the transition of certain items to Guild Wars 2 when it come out.
The retail price on this when it came out was $40 which seems like a lot to me (although most expansions cost that much I guess), but it can be found much cheaper now and is a great addition for the expereinced Guild Wars player when it can be found under $20.

A complete saga for GW fans
Strengths: Completes the original GW story. New armors, weapons, and skills.
Weaknesses: No new character classes.
Summary: I've been playing this game for 2 days now. I was a fan of the very first Guild Wars saga and was disappointed not able to find the little girl Gwen (whom I rescued) anywhere. I purchased this game to complete the story so I can see Gwen again. Similar to the previous GW's, this one features a luscious land to explore and spanking new armor/weapon sets. Love the new outfits! However I was also a bit disappointed because this expansion does not offer new character classes, but it does have some cool new heroes to help you with your missions. If you are a GW fan you must get this final expansion.

Strengths: New missions and quests, new heroes, skills, and items!
Weaknesses: Requires another version of Guild wars to play (this is not a stand alone version). No new classes.
Summary: If you love the guild war games, you should get this to continue with new missions and excitement. You can usually purchase this at a much lower cost than the other guild wars games.

Strengths: More dungeons, more heroes and new equipment
Weaknesses: No new class
Summary: A new expansion for all 3 of the previous Guild Wars. After installing, it will ask if you want to add the new access key to your old account or to a new one. If you already have some well geared level 20s, add it to your old account. Eye of the North opens up the map to a new underground world by going through Lion's Arch. This expansion is a nibble before Guild Wars 2 comes out. GW2 will be like WoW. Buy GWEN if you are tired of your current Guild War and want some new content.

Summary: Eye of the North is another excellent installment to the Guild Wars line. While it continues along the same lines as the original, it is different enough to justify its purchase. The gameplay is as excellent as before, and I can't wait to try out the sequel, Guild Wars 2.

Summary: Guild Wars: Eye of the North continues the tale of Ascalon from the original Guild Wars game (known amongst its fans as Prophecies). Eye of the North is just more of the same, so if you weren't a Guild Wars fan before, this won't make you a believer, but it does have a few features that will tie your characters into Guild Wars 2 if you can't get enough of the series.
Eye of the North is the first real expansion pack for the series, and thus, requires one of the original three games to play. If you're intending to give this as a gift, be sure the recipient already has one, or if they don't, just get them that. They can usually be found for cheaper than this expansion, and are far better titles.

Strengths: Free online play, of course. Great graphics despite its old engine. Fun new little features and content. PvP still fun.
Weaknesses: Old formula, even with new features, getting a little stale. PvE portion not that long.
Summary: The final chapter, or expansion to the original Guild Wars before the franchise moves onto a completely new Guild Wars 2, The Eye of the North, commonly referred to by gamers online as "GWEN", is a satisfying experience, and like most GW expansions and entries, does its job to satisfy those MMORPG cravings. At least for me...
Of course, the "enjoy factor" centers on a couple things, one being that one already owns a copy of at least one of the previous campaigns (Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall) because you are required to for the GWEN expansion to even work. GWEN allows you to play one of your level 20 characters from the past campaigns and extend its role-playing life through new content, quests, and lands.
While the PvE portion of the game is nowhere near as long as one of the full campaigns, it is still a breath of fresh air for those dying for some new areas to roam, and in addition, this GWEN expansion does fill in a bit more of plot-holes and after story for some characters in the first campaigns, so it ties the whole GW 1 "trilogy" I suppose together quite decently. And of course, there are new weapons and armors, which is always a bonus for those who absolutely must have the most elite gear and everything possible in game. For those that love PvP, no fear, you get some new goodies (arguably more than PvE), as well.
Yet while the extra content, items, and areas are nice, and they did throw some new features in to spice up the game a bit, if you've played any of the Guild Wars franchises before, the feeling in GWEN will be about 95% the same. A little refreshed and updated, but same graphics, game play, et al. Which is not to say is a bad thing, because GW boasts one of the most balanced mechanics of the MMORPG genere, but I'm just saying we've seen it all before.
With that said, all in all, although a bit short and more of the same, it is more than worth your pennies and time to pick it up if you're a GW fan, as it's a solid conclusion to the original Guild Wars series, and sets its players up nicely for the much anticipated Guild Wars 2, which is due out sometime in the near future.

Summary: Gameplay is awesome its a great expansion, and anyone who loves any of the previous 3 should get this one you won't be disappointed, the new features are great, and lots of fun to play good integration and setup for GW2

Strengths: + Hero NPC helpers
+ Good levels
Weaknesses: - Weak goody drops after killing monsters
- Definately need to be a level 20 to survive creature encounters.
Summary: This is the last add-on before the sequel Guild Wars 2. With this add-on you can transfer your character over to Guild Wars 2 when it comes out. Overall, this is a good game. I'm not sure if it is worth the full price of $40 but if you can find it for $30 or less like I did then it is worth the purchase.
